Collaboration focused on the improvement of teaching and learning is one of the highest yielding strategies to boost student, school and system performance. The research on the power of collaborative cultures to get results has been accumulating over 40 years. It points to the power of social capital—the agency and impact of strong and effective groups—to improve student learning” - DuFour

  1. Agree on a Meeting Location for this Friday
  2. Bring an upcoming assessment/activity that you both will be implementing - Coaches Meetings will look different

A protocol will be created with the purpose to do the following...

  1. Be prepared to think through the following

  1. What standard(s) does this measure?

  1. What is the current DOK level of this activity?
  2. Is this activity measuring content knowledge specific or demonstrating skill proficiency?
  3. How can you customize the activity/assessment to meet your combined objectives?
  4. Are there ways to alter the activity to allow student’s diverse strengths to demonstrate standard or skill mastery?
  5. List two ways in which you can increase the DOK level?
  6. After agreeing upon a couple of ways to increase the DOK level what modifications will you need to make the higher DOK level attainable for your…
    •        EL students
    •        Sped Students
    •        Struggling Students

Agenda 2/1/17

Purpose 1:  To get an understanding of the overall level of rigor (cognitive demand) we are requesting of our students.   This will be quantified using a Google Form.  You will go through as many artifacts as possible until 3pm

Purpose 2:  To learn from one another and become actively aware of the tasks we are providing for our students.  Often-times minor tweaks to what we have always done are all it takes to increase the level of rigor.

Guiding Question: What evidence is there that a variety of Depth of Knowledge Levels are being incorporated into student work/tasks?

Reminder that we are looking at the tasks/activates not the students’ responses.

Review DOK sheets

Process:

Review groups and locations

·       Cyber Cafe’ – Group 1: Social Studies/ESL        Group 2: Science

·       Room 124 – Group 1: Art/Music/Design               Group 2:Math/Math Lab

·       24C – Group 1:Language Arts/Reading                  Group 2World Language/PE

·       Special Education Teachers should go with their “co-teaching” colleagues

Within each group there should be two people who take Chrome Books to Input data on Google Form

Once in groups identify the “expert” of that artifacts.  The expert may need to clarify what the task is and what artifacts are supporting the task.  Only the artifact that is considered to be the task needs to be input into the Google form.  There may be more than one task to be input into the Google form.
