At times László is a master of the great art of knowing when to stop. In the swift first draft, in the hastily drawn sketch he is always full of spirit and confidence. In the progressing state of execution though he slowly casts out life, gets always cooler, stiffer and duller. At the beginning of his career László gave rise to some hope, but now that he has become a fashionable painter he practices his craft into the grand, and art quite often gets lost on the way. Many of his faces have neither bone structure nor muscles and hardly any credible skin. They seem like blown up rubber bags filled with air. To mention in this exhibition are the sketches: “Alice Barbi” [2340], “Princess Metternich” [110466], “Hereditary Princess of Meiningen” [5101].
