What words rhyme in “The Gingerbread Man?”

  1. Have the children recite repetitive text as I read “The gingerbread Man.”
  2. Use the story to introduce words that rhyme.
  3. Review concept of rhyming words and help children think of their own examples.
  4. Ask: What words rhyme in the Gingerbread Man? What words rhyme with ________? Fill in the blank with words that rhyme with man. (fan, can, pan, ran, tan) Does the word cat and van rhyme?
  5. Have the children participate in an action rhyme about colors.
  6. Have the children identify rhyming words on Pupils Book Page 56.

  3. Ask: What letter is it and is it uppercase or lowercase?
  4. Review the letters G g, H h, and I i. Give each child an uppercase letter and have him match it with the lowercase.
  5. Ask: What letter is that? Which one is uppercase and which one is  lowercase? What sound does it make? Find the right match. Is it that the  right match?
