Death of Salvador Dalí

In the year 1989 was world shocked by death of great surrealist Salvador Dalí. He was known as one of the main artists of his time when he died in his 85 years. His paintings were full of non-sense, memories and also reflections of his dreams. Some of his most famous pieces are Soft Construction with Boiled Beans, Persistence of Memory and the movie Andalusian dog.

Concert of The Rolling Stones

In the year 1990 the famous rock band The Rolling Stones appeared in Strahov instead of the traditional communist spartakiaeds. Before the concert, the band met with Prezident Václav Havel. This concert meant so much for people in Czech Republic after years of prohibitions and the hole Prague was drugged by again acquired freedom, and so the stadium was soon crowded and the concert is known as the symbol of freedom till now.

Van Gogh in Vienna

In the year 2008 Vienna hosted the biggest exhibition of Van Gogh in central Europe. They showed 150 paintings of this amazing postimpresionistic french artist. Visitors haven´t seen just paintings but also pen drawings, charcoal drawings and gouaches. The attendance exceeded 100 thousands visitors just on the first three days.

Entropa

Entroda was made by David Černý in 2009 for the exhibition in Brusel. THis sculpture of Europen Unie depicted the states and stereotypes associated with each one. This controversial sculpture was made to cooperate with slogan „Europe without bariers“ what it trully did. After the year it come back to Prague where it is exhibited in National Theatre.

Reconstruction of Frauenkirche

In the year 1989 famous dirigent Ludwig Guttler established a foundation to fix this church in Dresden which was destroyed in the second world war. Thanks to the contributions of Berlin Philharmonics, Dresden Bank, generous people from 13 countries the reconstruction could start in 1994 and became the hardest reconstruction of buiding in history. Work ended in 2005 and it all cost 180 millions euros.
