Children will create a model of the land to water ratio in a large group.

How do you use land and water?

- Read Aloud

- Whole Group: Listen for water sounds and identify pictures of bodies of water: ocean, lake, river, stream, pond, waterfall, pool, reservoir.

- Whole Group: Use a globe to identify water and land.  Hand out green and blue paper to make a representation of the land and water on the Earth.

- What do the blue and green parts of the globe indicate?

- What are bodies of water?

- How is land and water used to meet peoples needs?

Children will search for all the places water is a used in our classroom and school while on a Great Water Hunt.

- Whole Group: Go on a “Great Water Hunt” to see where and how water is used around the class and school.

- Independent Practice: Write a letter for initial sounds of the things they discover.  Then color the pictures and letters and wrods.

- Do we get water directly from the river?
