How to make cover art for your recording

  1. Find the template for the cover art here.
  2. If the title of your text is more than 20 characters choose “CoverTemplate_ForBigTitles.psd”
  1. Try to make the break between the two lines in the title as natural as possible, e.g., where there is a comma:

OneStepForwardTwoStepsBack_BIG.png

If your titles is less than 20 characters choose “CoverTemplate_ForSmallTitles.psd”

  1. Open Photoshop or GIMP and add the title of your text and the author. (They are in separate text boxes.)
  2. Save the cover in a .png format with no interlacing. Name it like this: “[InsertTitleHere]_BIG.png”
  3. Find the newly saved .png file, right click on it and choose open in Photoshop.
  4. Once in Photoshop, press ctrl+shift+I or command+shift+I. In the pop up window make sure “Constrain Proportions” is selected and change the size from 1600x1600px to 400x400px.
  5. Save the file again (important you choose “Save as…” not “Save”). Name the file like last time except add _SMALL instead of _BIG, like this: “[InsertTitleHere]_SMALL.png”
  6. Upload both of the files in the same folder as your recording. The _SMALL file will be used for .mp3s and the _BIG file is for the YouTube videos.
