Fall Learning Opportunities for St. Paul Church
“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (The Message)
Pre-pandemic, life was far from perfect, but for most, it was way better than this. A large part of our lives and livelihoods have been lost to COVID.
For most a return to our pre-pandemic status would be more than welcome. But God has a track record for doing “something brand-new” for his people in tough times, something way better than a simple return to what was. “Be alert, be present,” God says through the prophet Isaiah to his people who had been living in captivity (and life the way they used to know it) for years, “something brand-new” is “bursting out!”
While we are still in the season of waiting. God is working. Now is the time to lean in to Him, to strengthen our relationship with Him.
With the return of indoor worship here are some new learning opportunities for fall:
For All Ages
While children’s Sunday school is still on pause, we invite all to join our weekly family devotional. The devotional will be posted on the church Facebook page St Paul Lutheran Church - Home. All are invited to gather in small groups as a family or close friends in your home or over zoom. There will be a short Bible passage, discussion questions and some activities designed to bring us closer together and remind us of God’s constant presence in our lives. For any questions or a zoom tutorial contact Jenn Border 309-756-6773
All 7th and 8th graders will be attending a hybrid schedule of Confirmation classes. Pastor Gwen has been emailing the current students so if you haven’t received an email from her please email firstname.lastname@example.org to update your information ASAP!
For High School
High school youth will continue to meet in the Upper Deck at 9am on Sundays. For more info please text Jeff Bernhardt 309-781-3257.
Adult Sunday school will meet in the church library (or church connection if more room is needed) Sunday mornings from 9-10am. We are starting with Max Lucado’s “Anxious for Nothing” Bible study. No need to bring anything other than your mask and yourself. Join Georgia and Jane in learning how using our faith can help us be less anxious.
If you are already gathering in small groups for fellowship or would like to start a small group in your home, we have some good resources to get your small group started for an easy group led, conversation based Bible study. Please contact Jenn Border for more information 309-756-6773
We look forward to learning together,
The Learning Committee
