What are differnt places on Earth? 

  1. Review what the Earth is made of.
  2. Ask the children if they have ever visited a mountain.
  3. Explain that mountains are one kind of of land. Ask: Is a mountain high or low? What do you think you would be able to see if you climbed to the top of a mountain?
  4. Display Flip Chart page 32.
  5. Have the children sing “Looking Down from the Sky.”
  6. Review vocabulary terms.
  7. Guide oral vocabulary development by using the hand to show the meaning of the words high, low, and flat.
  8. Ask: Which picture shows high places? (mountains)
  9. Which picture shows flat places? (Plain)
  10. Talk about the different landforms.
  11. Have the children use picture clues and answer the following questions in complete sentences: Can you point a t a mountain? How would you describe a mountain, valley? How would you describe of the land we live? Would it be easier to grow plants on mountain or or on a plain?
