PHS SPORTS INFORMATION FOR 2017-2018

Pattonville High School is a proud institution, rich in traditions, academics and athletics.  We hope that you choose to become involved in Pattonville High School activities.  There are a wide variety of athletic and activity programs available to our students.  We feel that the values of participation help the student in their primary objective, which is to obtain a quality education.

Grades – Academic Eligibility

ATHLETES, CHEERLEADERS, DRILL TEAM and MSHSAA SPONSORED ACTIVITIES

You must have earned a minimum of 3.0 units of credit and a minimum grade point average of 1.500 (not cumulative GPA) in the preceding semester of attendance.   For the current semester, students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credited classes totaling 3.0 units of credit.

Required Forms – PHS Athletic & Activities Participation Packet

A PHS Athletic & Activities Participation Packet must be on file prior to a student being released to tryouts and/or first practice.  You must submit the entire packet.  If a student is chosen to participate on any sport team, cheerleading squad or drill team squad, two additional forms are required…Interscholastic Activities Code and Voluntary Drug Testing Program Card…and must be on file prior to participation in their first contest.  The forms are available on the PHS Pirates website.

Physical Exams (included with Participation Packet)

A physical exam is required by MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) BEFORE a student can tryout or practice for any sport, cheerleading, drill team, marching band, color guard or winter guard.  Physical exam must be administered on or after February 1, 2017 to be considered current for the 2017-18 school year.

Physical exams will be offered on July 13, 2017 from 6-8 pm in the pool lobby at PHS. Deadline to register is July 5. Please call the

PHS Activities Office at 314-213-8051 x 8058 to register. Cost is $30.00 (cash only) payable at time of exam.

Health Insurance (included with Participation Packet)

The MSHSAA by-laws provide that a student shall not be permitted to practice or compete until Pattonville High School has verification that he/she has basic athletic insurance coverage.  You will provide health insurance information when submitting the participation packet.

Voluntary Drug Testing Program

All athletes (including cheerleaders and drill team members) and their parents must sign the Pattonville Voluntary Drug Testing Card indicating if they “wish to participate” or “do not wish to participate” in the program.  Each athlete is required to submit one card with signatures each school year.
