Hoss’s Steak and Sea House of Hanover is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Hanover Area Council of Churches today. Coupons with more info are at the entrances of our Church if you’d like to take advantage of this offer.  This is a good way to support a good cause.  Thank you for considering!

Traditionally, during June, July, August, and the first Sunday of September, the Chancel Choir does not sing for the 10:45 am Traditional Service.  Music is presented by volunteers from the congregation or their guests.  Please consider giving of your talents and/or encourage others to do so.  A sign-up sheet is posted in the Choir Room.  Thank you.

SHARING GOD’S GRACE:  Next Sunday, May 27, the Sharing God’s Grace effort for this year will begin.  Our project for 2018, is Heifer Project’s “Fill the Ark.” The offering will be received to provide animals to those who struggle for sources of food and income.  More information is available in the May and June Days of Grace newsletters.

Pastor Bonnie’s Installation, to be held Sunday, June 3rd, at 3:00 p.m., here at Grace, is a very special time for all of us at Grace.  As we prepare for this occasion, every effort should be made to attend.  It is very important that our youngest members, our Grace children be welcome to join in this celebration.  All are Welcome and encouraged to take part in this wonderful day!

Congregational Meeting June 10, 2018 - There will be congregational meetings immediately after the Modern Service and the Traditional Service, June 10, 2018, to approve the cost of parking lot sealcoating and two Grace Policies.

  • Schorner Sealcoating, Spring Grove, PA, has proposed an estimate of $3,982.00 to fill cracks, reseal with one coat brush application, and re-stripe the parking lot.

Two proposed Grace Policies will be voted for approval:

  • Grace Safe Sanctuary Policy and the
  • Revised Fellowship Hall and Kitchen Use Policy for Non-church Events.

The Safe Sanctuary Policy shows the requirements for volunteers who help with children and youth.  The guidelines in this policy will help Grace meet PA State requirements for employees and volunteers.

The Fellowship Hall and Kitchen Use Policy for Non-church Events has been revised.  Revisions in this policy are underlined.

Sunday June 10, 2018, immediately after the Modern Service and at 10:10 AM in the sanctuary will be time to ask questions about the two policies.

Copies of the proposed policies can be found in manila folders located in the narthex, large table at the rear of Fellowship Hall, and in the large transept.  The proposed policies are also posted on the Grace website:

The Sewing Group will once again be meeting to assemble bed pads the second Tuesday of each month, September through June.  More hands are always welcome.

Next date will be June 12, 2018.

We are conducting a card shower of appreciation, thanks, and best wishes to Pastor Melissa as she leaves her position as Visitation Pastor here at Grace Church effective May 28, 2018.   Please bring cards to the Church Office so they can be presented to her when she leads Worship Service here on Sunday, June 10th.

Pastor Bonnie is also getting a card together that our beloved shut-ins can sign when she visits them.  The Sunday School children will also sign a group card for Pastor Melissa.   All are included as we Thank Pastor Melissa for her good efforts here at Grace.  Thank you, Pastor Melissa!

GRACE SENIORS . . . The June 20th meeting will be here before you know it and once again Linda Sager and Donna Bankert will prepare their “famous” Chicken Pot Pie.  Served along with this Pennsylvania Dutch specialty will be Pepper Slaw and Applesauce.  There will be a light dessert to top off the meal.  The cost remains at $6.00 per person.  Please sign up using the form in the newsletter or one you will find in the Sunday bulletin and return to Glenn Ruhlman or Pauline Benner by June 13th.  Glenn is in charge of the program.

Angels Among Us is the theme for the annual Tea at Homewood at Plum Creek.  The dates this year are Saturday, June 23rd and Tuesday, June 26th.  Tickets will be available the last week of April at $20.00 each.    A generous donation was made this year by a current resident of Plum Creek.  She has made by hand a quilt, Angels Watching, and two wall hangings, Angels Among Us, which will be offered at a raffle to be held in connection with the teas.  Pictures and some additional information can be seen on a flyer on the church bulletin boards.  Tickets are available now at $2 each or 3 for $5 and can be purchased from Pauline Benner.  (The winners need not be present at the tea on the 26th in order to win.  There will be three prizes.)

Chancel Choir Rehearsal continues @ 7:00 pm Thursday evenings.

How This Mom Saved Her Family from Disaster

Pich Khorn, 53, and her husband, Dom Soy, 54, live in a small house in Slarlak village in western Cambodia. They have two teenage sons, a widowed daughter and an infant grandchild who live with them. Khorn rents land from a neighbor to grow rice for her family’s daily needs.

Floods hit their village in October 2013 and destroyed the family’s rice paddy. Immediately, the disaster forced their oldest son and the daughter to seek work outside Cambodia. Their younger son had to drop out of school to help his parents get by by doing household chores while they went out to earn money as day laborers.
