September 16th Hotfix

A new hero released last week and if past experience is anything to go on, a hotfix patch wasn’t too far away. Yesterday a hotfix went live fixing a reconnect bug for custom games that were paused,display issues for Mac users, among some more interesting hero bugs (many of which were Rexxar-specific).

Heroes and Talents

There was a rare issue in which Leoric remained in his Undying (ghost form) for the rest of the game.
Fixed an issue that could prevent Nova from using Abilities if her target enters Stasis after Triple Tap is cast.
Misha will now properly pass all Spider Gems she collects on Tomb of the Spider Queen to Rexxar.
Rexxar will now properly gain Hunter-Gatherer Talent stacks when nearby allies collect Regeneration Globes.
Rexxar’s Mend Pet will no longer cleanse him of movement impairing effects.
Rexxar will no longer lose the Basic Attack range bonus granted by the Throwing Axe Talent after being killed.
The cooldown for Misha, Charge! will no longer increase after learning the Bear Necessities Talent.
Fixed a rare issue that could allow Rexxar to spawn more than one Misha under specific circumstances.

Top 100 Preseason Leaderboard

Team 1 posted the Top 100 Hero League players this past week mentioning that a leaderboard will be a feature once Grandmaster league makes it into the game. There is quite a bit of crossover with HotSlogs. While it is not 1 to 1, it is nice to see that HotSlogs is a relevant source for those of us not working for Blizzard.

American Championship Las Vegas

The HWC Americas Championship is this weekend in Las Vegas. Eight teams will compete in a group stage, Bo3 tournament with the top 2 teams qualifying for the World Championship at BlizzCon 2015.

The group is stacked. Tempo Storm and Cloud9 look like the teams to beat with many accolades under their belts. But the lesser known teams have quite the accomplishments as well. Singapore-based Relics took 1st place in both the Singapore Finals and the Southeast Asia Championship. Argentinian team, Furious Gaming consistently placed in the top 4 in the Copa America series as well.

Also, to promote the event Blizzard will be putting the Heroes used in the final winning game of the Americas Championship on sale the following week. On September 22, 2015, in addition to the normal weekly sale; five additional Heroes available at a discounted price in the NA region. The following week, beginning September 29, the skins used on those particular Heroes will be discounted in celebration of the winning team.

Korean Meta Analysis

Redditor r_gg posted a recent analysis on South Korean team DK and Snake’s picks and bans in their recent OGN matchup giving a good look at the South Korean meta at the moment.

Interesting highlights

Sonya has been on the rise as a counter to Leoric.
Team DK strongly favor an Illidan/Abathur composition and like to build dive comps around it.

This leads to Team Snake taking Tyrael partially to have a strong initiator to take advantage of the lack of a 5th Hero body on DK’s Abathur comp. And partially to deny them having Tyrael as a compliment to Snake’s dive-happy comp.

so does this mean if you just report someone and he isn't being toxic he will still get auto-silenced?
@DustinBrowderr: Requires several reports. You have to have played with them. You can appeal to CS if you feel it was unfair.

I reported a person for toxic behavior and then proceeded to get matched up with that person again 5 seconds later…
@DustinBrowder: Reporting does not change matchmaker. It could lead to some abuse at high levels of play but it might still be a good fix.

That just seems so easy to abuse.
@DustinBrowder: We can check chat logs. So far nobody has appealed who did not deserve the silence.

Warrior wave clear has been a big talking point lately. Are Johanna/Leoric too strong in this regard, or others too weak?

@DustinBrowder: Possibly. Balance team is looking at it.

Playing the game didn't you feel the need for more pings? There'll be more pings?

@DustinBrowder: We have talked about more pings. "Ambush from here" would be great for example. What pings do you want?

can you tell, how many people are working on HotS?

@DustinBrowder: Hard to calculate. 120+ core devs. 100s of others in QA, CS, Cinematics, PR, esports, etc.

They are so terrified of having any likeness to dota 2 its embarrassing at this point.

@DustinBrowder: We can show MMR if that will help. Waiting for a few months for dust to settle on current system to evaluate.

What are the chances of a @BlizzHeroes map editor? Unfortunately @StarCraft editor doesn't have easy access to most assets.

@DustinBrowder: Definitely want to do it in the future. No ETA.

Hey guys, why is it that the pro consensus is that Rehgar is good and Li Li is terrible. Yet this not bear out in hotslogs data? Keep up the good work.

For reference:

According to HotSlogs in the last 7 days Li Li is the top Support hero with a 53.8% win ratio overall in Hero League.

Then Kharazim w/ 51.7% (but less games played than other Supports) • Uther 50.5% • Brightwing 48.6%

1. Aside from announced or rumored characters, what Hero would either of you like to see most in Heroes of the Storm that hasn't really been discussed?

2. When can we expect one of you to speak in Deckard Cain's voice for the entire episode?

3. What do you think about a pure arena mode in Heroes of the Storm? Something like a very very small map, maybe the size of a screen with no minions. Everyone gets level 20 and you have modes of 1v1 2v2 etc...

4. What do you think about needing a hero level requirement to choose a hero in hero league or team league? At times I have been Snoopy McSnoop during the draft phase and witnessed players choosing level 1 heroes. This has led to much frustration on my behalf and likely other players as well.
