Summer East Region Championships 2017

Weekend One

29th\30th April and 1st May 2017

Inspire Sports Park, Luton

Crusaders at the East Region Swimming Championships

Eight Crusaders swimmers were at Luton Inspire over the May bank holiday weekend to compete in the prestigious East Region Swimming Championships.  Competing against the best swimmers aged 15+ in the East of England, the Crusaders were up against stiff competition.  Dan Hill should have been there with his team mates but having broken his collarbone whilst skiing, he was put out of action. Eleanor White and Amber Hill competed in the ladies’ backstroke events and achieved highly credible 11th and 14th places respectively.  Tom Pickering also swam backstroke, getting a time of 29.57 in the 50m event.

Representing the club in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events, Megan Bunyard and Annalise Wright, put in great performances.

The girls’ 14-16 medley relay team – Amber Hill, Rebecca Knibb, Kya Wright and Eleanor White -  got off to a great start when Amber put the team into first place after the 100m backstroke leg. Rebecca stepped up to the mark with a great 100m breaststroke and Kya and Eleanor swam almost to their short course times to take a good 2 seconds of their entry time.

The younger Crusaders will be swimming at the East Region Championships in Norwich at the end of May.
