Conference organized by the Brazilian Chapter of the World IT Project[1] and GTIS[2], with the support of UFPB’s Graduate School of Management, Revista Eletrônica de Sistemas de Informação[3], and Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa - RNP[4]. Conference sponsored by the Center for the Applied Social Sciences (CCSA), the Graduate School of Management (PPGA), the Graduate School of Information Science (PPGCI) and the Information Technology Authority (STI) at UFPB[5] and Grupo A (ex-Bookman)[6].

Conference goals:

The conference aims to discuss Information Systems’ role in society and, more specifically, the ways the discipline has evolved over the years, with special attention to the idiosyncrasies of IS research and application in Latin America. Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts for talks that reflect on the specific conditions in Latin American institutions and their macro-environment that enable and restrict the development of IS as a field of study in ways that substantially differ from what usually takes place in other countries, particularly the developed ones.
