This is an introductory document to organizations that you can financially support today that specifically assist the LGBTQ+ community. The first section are organizations that focus on supporting the Black Trans community. The second section are organizations that primarily focus on the LGBTQ+ community as a whole. I’m working on sharing articles and lastly I share links to GoFundMe(s) that cover the funeral costs for Tony McDade and Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells.

Organizations that focus on supporting Black Trans folks:

  • The Okra Project: A collective that provides meals and some financial support to Black Trans People..
  • Black Visions Collective: a Black, Trans, and Queer-Led organization that is working on dismantling systems of violence while centering Queer and Trans people.
  • Miss Major’s Monthly Fundraising Circle: A veteran of the Stonewall Rebellion, former sex worker, human rights activist. Miss Major is a Black, formerly incarcerated transgender elder, mother, and grandmother to many people in the in the trans community. Her activism is centers around Trans women of color who have survived police brutality and incarceration.
  • For the Gworls: An instagram account that raises money to assist Black Trans folks’ rent and gender-affirming surgery.
  • SNaP Co. (Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative): A Black Trans and Queer-led abolitionist organization that envisions a Black Trans future rooted in freedom.
  • Black Trans Travel Fund: A grassroots mutual-aid based organization that provides Black Trans-women the financial resources necessary to access their safest travel options.

LGBTQ+ Organizations:

  • Emergency Release Fund: A mutual aid fund that raises funds to specifically post bail for Trans People. The Fund is a member of the National Bail Fund Network.
  • LGBTQ Freedom Fund: A fund that posts bail for LGBTQ+ individuals in US jails and immigration facilities.
  • Lavender Rights Project: An organization that provides lost-cost civil legal services and community programing for Trans and Queer low-income people and other marginalized communities.
  • Trans Women of Color Collective: A collective that highlights the narratives of Trans and non-binary Black and People of Color. They also have community funds available.
  • The National Black Justice Coalition: A civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black LGBTQ people.
