My dear Sir,
Mrs Carnegie desires me to write you in regard to the painting of the four portraits[1] She spoke to you and to Mr Alfred East[2] in Mr East Studio. She has had a letter from Mr East in which he informed her you will undertake the four pictures the size of the one she saw of Mr East [3385] for 400 pounds each. Mrs Carnegie lives at

Cumberland Island - Georgia - about eight hundred miles south of New York and thirty hours by train from New York. The time that would suit Mrs Carnegie to have the work done would be the months of January and February - I will be in London and would like to have the pleasure of talking the matter over with you any time before we sail for home which is on Sept. 4th. You can find me at the hotel nearly always about one oclock but think perhaps you had

better drop me a line making an appointment, Mrs Carnegie says to tell you she can promise you some good deer - wild turkey and duck shooting if you care for that sort of thing. I was with Mrs Carnegie the other morning and had the pleasure of meeting you.
