ST. STEPHEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER & UPDATE
Healthy Hearts, Caring Minds
January 19, 2017
In this issue
“The common home of all men and women must continue to rise on the foundations of a right understanding of universal fraternity and respect for the sacredness of every human life, of every man and every woman, the poor, the elderly, children, the infirm, the unborn, the unemployed, the abandoned, those considered disposable because they are only considered as part of a statistic.”
School Council Meeting
The St. Stephen Catholic School Council will be holding their next meeting on Wednesday, January 25th. This is a change from the original date that was posted in our school calendar. All interested parents are welcome to attend the meeting, which will begin in the school staff room at 6:30pm. More information about the council can be found at: http://ste.ocsb.ca/catholic-school-council.
Some parents/guardians will have received a notice from Ottawa Public Health (OPH) advising them that their child’s immunization records are incomplete. If you have received such a notice, please be advised that your child will be suspended from school beginning on Wednesday, February 8th, and will be unable to return until OPH advises the school that he/she may be readmitted. If you have any questions, please contact Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744.
Thank You from St. Luke School
We are honoured to have received a beautiful piece of artwork and a heartfelt letter of thanks from the St. Luke School community, in recognition of the fundraising we did for the school before Christmas. Photos of the art and the letter can be found at:
Grade 6 Guest and Reminder
The Grade 6 classes have been very lucky to have a guest speaker, Mr. Hayman, visit this week to share some exciting science experiments and information about the properties of air. We are so lucky to have such interesting and talented people visiting our school.
Also, Grade 6 parents are reminded to send in their 4-5 sentence message for their child to the yearbook committee at: email@example.com by Friday, January 20th.
Badminton and Floorball Teams
The girls’ and boys’ badminton teams had so much fun representing the school at their tournaments this week. All of the participants did a great job. Next week, even more students will get the chance to represent St. Stephen School, as our school will be hosting the Girls’ Floorball tournament, on Tuesday, January 24th, and the Boys’ Floorball tournament, on Thursday, January 26th. Best of luck to everyone
A reminder that Monday, January 30th is a PD Day. There will be no school that day as the teachers will be participating in a variety of professional development activities.
