Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Students continued our learning about our school mascot, the Kingfisher, and showing ways that we can DIVE at school.

Next Week We Will…

Math: We will measure objects using centimeters and meters.  Students will relate 1cm, 10cm, and 100 cm.

We will begin our first unit in Wit and Wisdom, Changes!  Students will read the text “How do you Know it’s Fall” and begin to discuss what they notice and wonder about a text.

Phonics:  Students will differentiate when to use /c/, /k/, and /ck/.  We will also discuss our first syllable type: closed syllables.

Science/ Social Studies: Not Yet

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): We will talk about what it feels like to belong. We will begin to discuss and value our classmates’ similarities and differences. This discussion supports our school’s Statement of Inclusivity that you can read on our school website.

Moments to Celebrate!

Students did a wonderful job logging onto their computer, and getting started with our learning sites.  Make sure to send in headphones by Monday, August 19th!

We Need Your Help

  • Make sure your child is at school on time, walking in by 7:57 each morning!
  • It is important that your child come each day with a full water bottle, and a snack!
  • Next week students will be using computers and will need headphones labeled with name.

Announcements and Reminders

As a grade level, 2nd grade will not be sending homework, with the only expectation being 20 minutes of nightly reading. (Teachers will reach out individually if we feel your Kingfisher could benefit from additional practice in something!)
