 New Zealand is a small country that is closest to Australia. It is 4155 kilometers away. It would take about 1 day on a 500 km per hour plane and by boat it would be sometime around 6 days if it went

90km per hour.

In New Zealand, food is a great thing to get a smile on people’s faces. Hangis are a traditional maori food. They get lots of vegetables like potatoes, carrots, kumara and lots of others. Then they dig a big hole in the ground light a fire and put all the vegetables in the big hole and after that they cover it up with dirt. They wait for about ten minutes and then they uncover it. They serve it up and it is just like cooked or roasted zvegetables. A good desert would also make them happy. I know a very good dessert that I make. They are called Chocolate Peppermint Creams. They have hard peppermint icing in the middle and are covered with melted milk chocolate.

Rugby is a sport that has been going for over 200 years! Rugby was created by William Webb Ellis in 1823 when they did not play this sort of rugby. The team captain was Richie Mccaw who has been playing in the All Blacks since 2001 and has now retired from rugby. The New Zealand team has won 3 rugby titles in 12 years which means that they have won the rugby world cup 3 years in a row! The rugby world cup is every 4 years and next time in 2019 it will be in Japan.

The Silver Ferns are the New Zealand netball team and the team captain is Casey Kopua. This fantastic player has been playing for 12 years in this netball team and 30 years in her whole life. She has met a lot of friends just from being in this group.

New Zealand has a main animal which is a kiwi. It is A fluffy brown bird that is as big as a soccer ball. There are about 68,000 kiwis are left in New zealand and they lose 20 kiwi each week. Stoats, rats and possums are effective to kiwi and are a egg eating family. At night they hunt for the kiwi eggs in the national forests. The department of conservation go out into the bushes to help kiwi a let them grow up in a new world.

Stewart Island is a small island down at the bottom of the south island and there is about 1000 people living on there. They have to sail over to the shops on the south island to buy there food. There are a few more islands around New Zealand and one is the Bay Of Islands. There is a place in the north island where there is a bunch of small rocky fun islands all around the towns Russell and Rawhiti. I have seen how cool it looks to go and stay in hotels that have pools with comfy beds with soft pillows to lie on. There is also the Bay Of Plenty. It is basically the same as the Bay Of Islands except it’s a beach.
