Qualifications:

 

-          Must possess a valid SD Teaching Certificate

-          Experience teaching Native American children (preferred)

-          Must pass background checks and drug testing

-          Driver’s license & proof of Insurance required

-          Indian preference observed

-          Must possess excellent people and communication skills

 

Duties:

 

-          Organize instruction for assigned grades

-          Turn in lesson plans no later than the Monday morning of each week

-          Utilize school materials & supplies to meet students’ needs

-          Resolve disciplinary and counseling problems on own initiative, except for extreme behavior problems

-          Maintain individual student records as required including three forms of assessments

-          Maintain attendance records

-          Confer with special education and bilingual teachers

-          Supervise meals, playground, and early morning duty as assigned and bus supervision as requested

-          Maintain open communication with all staff

-          Monthly home visits to students are required

-          Maintain awareness of current trends in education

-          Become knowledgeable of theory, philosophy, and learning strategies

-          Demonstrate interest in community functions

-          Required to attend Weekly and Monthly Staff Meetings

-          Maintain confidentiality of student and staff records at all times

-          Assist during school functions

-          Become familiar with school policies and procedures

-          Other duties as assigned
