CLUB STATEMENT – COVID 19

The Management Committee of Thornton B. C has taken the decision to close the club indefinitely. This is in line with Government guidelines. The Health & Wellbeing of our members, their families and the general public is our paramount concern and we feel this is the correct decision. We are aware of the inconvenience this may cause to our members and anyone who has an upcoming booking at the club. We will be contacting everyone that has a booking and also the clubs we are due to play in the month of April.

The opening of the green on the 11th April is also suspended until further notice. The committee is committed to communicate to our members via the website and social media. We will also try to communicate regularly with those not able to access these platforms. The safety of our members and the general public must come first and we must All do what we can to minimize / delay the spread of the Coronavirus.

The Committee would like to thank the Members who have paid their Annual fees. This much needed income will ensure that Thornton B. C will be able to pay its bills and be ready to open once the government says that it is safe to do so. We hope that the club will be in a secure financial footing to allow us to look at reimbursing / rewarding these members for their continued support. There will still be tasks to do around the club house and if it is safe to do so and you wish to help then please contact a member of the committee. As we receive further guidance we will share this with our members as we receive it.

Finally please stay safe and let’s stay positive. With everyone pulling together we will come through this stronger. Ask yourself this question “what can I do to help my neighbors” collect shopping or a take-away, doing washing, do a bit of gardening, put their buckets out etc. There are Lots of small everyday tasks we all take for granted. Doing any of these small tasks will be appreciated by those who may have to self-isolate.

Thank you,

Thornton Bowling Club Management Committee
