Emails, Josh Havens, deputy press secretary, Office of Gov. Rick Perry, May 9, 2013
Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Texas added more than 1.75 million net new jobs over the past 10 years (March 2003-March 2013). During the same period, the U.S. as a whole added 5.3 million net new jobs. 1.75 million is a third of 5.3 million.
The bottom line is, this is the most accurate way available to compare any single state’s job growth to the nation as a whole.
