Texas added more than 1.75 million net new jobs over the past 10 years (March 2003-March 2013). During the same period, the U.S. as a whole added 5.3 million net new jobs.  1.75 million is a third of 5.3 million.

The bottom line is, this is the most accurate way available to compare any single state’s job growth to the nation as a whole.
