Thank you for your letter of the 24th April. I am delighted to hear you can come and paint my mother’s portrait [4080] about 15th of June, a date that will suit us both excellently as she will be at home

I have not yet received the Figaró [sic] Illustré but I expect it is waiting for me at Brook house, where I have not been since my return.

I hope by the time you arrive in England we will have better weather, it is now something too awful snow or rain everyday

every one has to wear winter-clothes at present.
