Schroeder YMCA Swim Team
- Schroeder Conference Program Information:
Each week we’ll have a section of the newsletter that we’ll be updating, dedicated to the Schroeder Conference Program. Parents of swimmers involved in the conference meets will want to check this section for important and topical news.
The meet information is available on our website under the meets section and explains how the meets work.
- Update on Pulaski and Noyes County Pools:
Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic’s
amendment to keep Pulaski and Noyes Pools open was passed by the
budget committee. The final step that ensures these important
facilities stay open will occur when the Milwaukee County Board of
Supervisors vote on the 2014 county budget on Nov. 12th.
Thank you to all who have signed the petition and helped to
keep these valuable resources open.
- Many thanks to James Biles (masters swimmer) and Scott Rolfs (lap swimmer) for their great work sampling, purchasing and installing new shower heads in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms.
- There is a Hunger Task Force bin in the lobby area at the WSAC. Please consider dropping some food in it over the next week or two.
- Adam Mania and Steve Cebertowicz are returning to Balzano, Northern Italy for the 17th meeting of this Pro-Am meet. The format attracts pros from mostly Europe and some from the USA and forces athletes to compete in their best events and an IM. Watch for results.

3. Parent Practice and Meet Reminders:
- For parents who choose to stay and watch practice, you must remain in the pool stands and off the deck during swim practice. The exception is Deer Creek Pool because there are no stands.
- Parents are not to interact with their swimmer in any way during swim practice, unless it’s an emergency.
- Coaches are available to answer questions before or after practice. We want to be able to give our full attention to the athletes in the pool during their practice.
- Parents must remain in the pool stands at all swimming meets unless they are working a volunteer job on the pool deck. This is a U.S. Swimming and WI Swimming rule.
4. Signing Up For Meets On Your Swimmer’s Meet Schedule (there are a number available to enter, so check entry deadline and do asap):
- Parents are reminded ALL SWIMMERS MUST COMMIT OR DECLINE by the entry deadline for each meet and ALL SWIMMERS are expected to participate in all meets listed for their group on the meet schedule.
- To enter a meet, click on the swim team home page, and scroll down to the list of meets. Click on “Attend/Decline” for the meet (enter password if necessary).
- Then click on Undeclared Athletes, scroll to your swimmer’s name, click on the name, commit (put yes) in the declaration box, and click on the save changes box.
- Once the swimmer is committed, you may choose the swimmer’s events or have the coach choose the events (recommended).
- If your swimmer cannot attend, follow the previous steps and put no in the declaration box. Please use the message box to explain why the swimmer is not participating, and then click on the save changes box.
5. Other Important Meet Info:
- A number of other meets are now open for swimmers to commit to. (Please see above info for meet sign-up.) Also, volunteer job sign-up for families is now available for our Schroeder Y Invite and Schroeder Finalist meets. Make sure you take care of your volunteer requirements by signing up for a job.
- Parents, please remember Coach Bob automatically commits and enters all Senior 1 and Junior 1 swimmers to the meets on their schedule. Swimmers in all other groups are expected to participate in ALL of the meets on their group’s schedule and must commit by the meet entry deadline. Swimmers who decline a meet are expected to communicate the reason why in the message box. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.
6. Team Equipment Info:
Just a reminder, we would like all swimmers to wear a solid black suit when they compete in meets. They can wear any suit they choose in practice.
