Want to write for The Hustle?

What we are: A newsletter that covers business, tech, and the economy, and we’re looking for writers to contribute reported feature stories to our Sunday newsletter.

Our audience: We have about 2 million newsletter subscribers, and our Sunday features routinely attract tens of thousands more views online + attention from the likes of Pocket and the Sunday Long Read.

What we’re looking for: Reported features about business and the economy. Many of our stories explain fun or interesting economic topics -- kind of like “Planet Money” but in newsletter form -- while others highlight people or businesses successfully going against the grain. We’re also fond of compelling explainers about newsy topics in business and the economy.

The key is to go deeper than the news. We like stories you won’t find elsewhere. Bottom line: if it’s interesting and fun and has something to do with business or the economy, it could be a fit.

Some recent successful stories include:

Length: We’re looking for short features (800 to 1,000 words) and long features (1,300-2,000 words)

Pay: We typically pay about $0.80-$1 per word depending on the amount of reporting.
