You have a writing assessment coming up on instructional writing this week. We will recap and practice our instructional writing to prepare for the test.

Success Criteria

What is our success criteria for instructional writing?

  • Be clear and simple
  • make sure it has a title
  • precise vocab
  • list equipment needed
  • list in order (Instructions)

Plan

Ideas for writing:

As a class, add 1-2 ideas to the class padlet.

Organise

Pick an idea from the padlet that you want to write about.

Use the organiser planner to organise your writing into sections.

Write

Use your organiser to write. (Start your writing at the bottom of this doc)

Edit

Edit your writing then have a buddy edit for you.

Remember to check:

Capital letters - are they in the right place?

Punctuation - are your full stops, commas, question marks etc in the right place?

Grammar- have you written in the correct tense? Do your sentences make sense.

Spelling - Have you spelt all words correctly?

Always re-read your work. Change words if you need to!

Review

Self assess your work against the success criteria. Have a buddy peer assess your work.

How to tie your shoe laces

Equipment needed

Instructions 😳😳

  1. First you get your shoes any kind and put on your feet.
  2. Next do a criss cross with your shoe laces and pull tight.
  3. Then grab both of the laces and make two bunny ears.
  4. Lastly get one of the bunny ears and make a loop around the other bunny ear and put it under the first bunny ear and pull both tightly.
