  1. Neil Buckley a member of the Mosgiel Rotary Club put forward the suggestion of the sign to Rotary Club and retail association and this was adopted as part of the 50th Anniversary Project of the Rotary Club.

The 3metre high letters are made of glass polystyrene fibre.

 

  1. There are 6 schools primary to secondary (excluding early Childhood Centres) in Mosgiel and the oldest existing school is East Taieri established in 1853.

               The oldest school is Mosgiel School.

      3.   Mosgiel War Memorial unveiled 26th August 1923. It commemorates the soldiers killed in                                   both wars 1914-1918 and 1939- 1945.

      4.     Taieri Blokes Shed and Helicopters Otago are the two Boyzone enterprises at the Taieri Aero Club.

       5.   The two hills at Saddle Hill are called Makamaka and Pikiwara.

              The current concerns are that  they are being mined away.

      6.     The Maori name for Silverstream is Whakaehu. It flows from the Silver Peaks and joins the Taieri River 2km from Allanton.
