Presidential candidate

Kristina Toliver

Mother of Mia and Michael Toliver.

I have been an active parent at CMIT North Elementary since my son started at the school three years ago. I help out at several school events including the annual Scholastic Book Fair, after school parties, fundraiser events, as well as regularly volunteering in my kids’ classrooms, chaperoning field trips, and more. I am currently serving as the chair for this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week sponsored by the PTO. Being active in the school has allowed me to establish good working relationships with both administrators and teachers. I am ready and willing to serve as our school’s PTO President. I have experience serving on executive boards and ensuring executive boards stay in compliance with bylaws. I am excited at the possibility of building a strong PTO board that supports the school and builds an effective school home partnership.

Corresponding Secretary candidate:

Adrienne Settles- Current Corresponding secretary running for re-election.

Adrienne is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and came to the DC area to attend Howard University. She and her husband, Brandon, have 2 children. A stay-at-home mom and fitness instructor, working for Fit4Mom in Montgomery County teaching boot camp and Barre style workouts to moms. She also manages their community outreach department.  She is very excited about what she was able to contribute to the PTO over the last two school years and all the wonderful things that the PTO has done for CMITNES!

Treasurer candidate:

Shannon Thomas! Mother of fourth graders Shayne and Na’liyah Thomas.

My name is Shannon Thomas I am the mother of amazing twins, I am naturally a helper/nurturer. I find joy in helping people in whatever capacity I can, as my children would say I can make any situation "work". I enjoy planning events and having fun times with my family. I would like to be on the PTO because I feel the work that is done makes a big impact on the children.

Recording secretary candidate:

Lisa Albury

Mother of Warner Brown

My name is Lisa Albury. I am interested in becoming the recording secretary. I have one graduate of CMIT Elementary who is now at the middle school doing well and a current thriving 2nd grader at CMIT.  I am social worker for the District government, specializing in children and families and trauma.  I have been an administrator for many years of my career and have excellent leadership, facilitation, and programmatic organizational skills.  I was the PTO president at DeerField Run Elementary  prior to coming to CMIT.  The PTO had discontinued and I along with a wonderful team of parents were able to restart and re-spark a very successful and active PTO.  One of the main things I feel is extremely important is a true partnership with our teachers, honoring their tireless work, and getting commitment and participation from their voice.  I have not been very active in the PTO over the last year because of life demands, however I was active as a volunteer in previous years.  My family has volunteered at the school dance, the holiday store, PTO meetings, book fairs, and PTO membership registration, grandparents, mothers, and father’s day celebrations at CMIT.  I look forward to serving our CMIT community.

School Representative:

Second grade teacher Ms. Cooper

Hi! My name is Ms. Cooper. I have lived in Maryland my entire life. I graduated from UMBC in 2016, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and my Elementary Education teaching certificate. I spent the last two years in Baltimore City teaching third grade. Before and during college, I worked as a Dog Trainer. I loved working with animals but I love working with children even more! I started my Masters Degree at Western Governors University in March of this year, and I am getting my degree in Learning and Technology. This year at CMIT has been by far my favorite year as a teacher so far and I can't wait for many more awesome years just like this one!
