A Birthday Cake for Grandma

I am learning to respond to a text using my prior knowledge and experience.

Success Criteria:

  • I can use personal experiences to connect ideas in the text (text to self)

What was the family tradition the children wanted to follow?

The kids say it a  family tradition the kids say because if someones makes or gives you something you give something back.

Do you have any family traditions that your family follow?  If so, what are they?  If not, do you know any examples of family traditions?  

A family tradition is where a family does a special giving day where they celebrate.

Why does Mum rub the Lucy’s arm on page 23?

To make her feel better.

Was Grandma a good cook?  How do you know?

On page 23 it says that Grandma made a cake for his seventh

Birthday and he ate so much he got a tummy ache

Where is Grandma?  How do you know?

 Grandma is in heaven now because she died because it says on page 25

Were there some clues in the story that tell us that Grandma had died?
