第十四章 契約
Ch14 Contract
TN: the skeleton/butcher/lich are speaking in polite way, sorry if i can’t show him do that, because of my little knowledge in english word.
何だかんだあったがオレと肉屋は互いに嘘を吐かない契約を交わし、交渉を再開した。とは言ってもほとんど肉屋の情報をオレが聞くというスタンスだったが。
Because one thing or other the butcher and me made a contract not tell a lie to each other, after that we reopening the negotiations. Even if you say that it was information from what I hear most of it are the butcher stance.
話している内にオレがこの世界の仕組みについて何も知らないこともバレたが、肉屋はそのことに付け込むようなことはしなかった。どうやら本当に対等に扱うようでこっちとしても安心だった。
When we are talking with each other, the fact that I don’t know anything about the structure of this world are exposed, but the butcher didn’t take any advantage from that matter. It seems that I have been truly treated as equal by it, what a relief.
「まず、この世界において魂の役割は非常に重要なのです。魂の強さが現実に置ける強さとなるはもちろん知ってると思いますが……知ってますよね？」
「……すいません」

最初はこんな感じで肉屋も困り果てていた。
At first the butcher feeling completely at a loss.
「まったく、計算や思考能力は高いのに何故ところどころすっぽり抜け落ちたように知らないことがあるんですか」
(異世界から転生してるからな)
「さあ、オレに言われても」

(That’s because i have been reincarnated from another world you know)

内心で思ったこととは違うことが口から出る。ほぼ無意識だから契約にも引っ掛からなかった。まあ、嘘は言えないので微妙に誤魔化す言い方をしたのだが。
The word that I said are different from the word that i think. Because it is almost unconsciously, It was not caught by the contract. Well..., i’m not lying, i just smoothly dodge the question.
知らないとはいってない、オレは他の奴に聞けと言っただけだ。曖昧な表現の扱いにかけては日本語は断トツに便利である。日本人でよかった。
I’m not saying that i don’t know, i’m just replying by following what the others said to me. Japanese language is the most useful language in handling vague expression. I’m glad i’m a japanese person.
「まあ、話を戻しましょう。この世界に生きるすべての生命には魂が宿っています。人もエルフもドワーフにも、モンスターであるあなたのようなスライムやゴ ブリンにこの白骨、虫や草木に至るすべての生命に。そして、レベルアップとはその魂が一回り大きく成長したことを示します」
"Well, let's return to the conversation. Soul is dwelling in all the life exist in this world. In human, elf, dwarf, even in you a slime or this skeleton who are a monster. An also, it show that when you levelup, the size of your soul will improve greatly"
魂の成長か、理屈はギリギリ理解できなくもないがいきなり言われても困る。オレは元々幽霊とかそう言う胡散臭いのは信じてないのだ。まあ、こんなことになったことを考慮すれば大抵のことが許容することは出来る、が納得するのとはまた別である。
The growth of soul huh? I’m barely can understand the theory about that so even if you suddenly say it to me, its troubling me. In the first place, i don’t even believe in questionable thing like ghost. Well, considering what happened to me now, i can allow it, but aggreing with it are a different matter.
「魂を成長させる方法で一番手っ取り早いのは魂を奪い取る事です。自らの手で何者かの命を奪った時に限り、相手の魂を吸収できますから」
「あれ？ じゃあ肉を食ったりするのは魂を吸収しているんじゃないのか？」
“The most quickest method to grow the soul are by stealing others soul. When you taking someone souls with your own hand, you can absorb their souls.”
“Eh? Aren’t eating their meat are the same with absorbing their soul?”
さっきの理屈からして肉を食えば相手の魂の一部を得られる、だから強くなると思ったのだが。
I thought based on the theory just now when you eating your opponent meat you will get some part of their soul thats way we become stronger.
「もちろんこの白骨の職業がある通り、その方法でも力は得られます。ただ、相手を倒した場合に比べるとその比率は比べるべくもなく、いわば残りカスを漁っ ているにすぎません。もちろん強大な魂の持ち主は残りカスですら凄まじい力を得ることも出来ますが、それはあくまで例外でしょう。魂の大部分と核に当たる 重要な部分は殺した相手に吸収、簒奪された後ですから当然と言えば当然なのですが」
“Of course you can get stronger with this skeleleton method or that method. どうやらここまでの話だとオレが前に予想したことはほとんど間違ってなかったようだ。

「なんでだ？ 誰も殺さずに強くなれるならそれが一番じゃないか」
「多少の力量をあげるならともかく、その種族が覚えられるすべてのスキルを獲得するぐらいのレベルアップをするには軽く悟りを開くくらいしなければなりませんよ」

“Why? Isn’t that become stronger without have to kill others are the best method to get stronger?”

はい、無理です。悟りを開くとか仙人になれってか。
Uhhuh, Its impossible. Until i achieving enlightenment? You want me to become a hermit or something?
「最後は契約による条件付きの場合ですね。人間同士の武闘会などの時には相手を倒したらほんのわずかですが一部の魂が得られるようにするらしいですね。もちろんその為の特別なスキルが必要ですが、今は覚える必要はないでしょう」
(ない物ねだりしてもしょうがないし今は敵を殺すしかない、か)

殺さなくてもよくなった時のことはそうなったら考えよう。今考えたところで迷いを生むだけだろうし。
I’ll think about it when the time that i don’t need to kill someone came. Thinking about it now will only make me hesitate.
「色々話しましたが、今あなたがすべきことは条件をクリアして進化を重ねることのみです。他の事はその時その時に知ればいいでしょう。何ならこの白骨が逐一お教えいたしますし」
「そうだな、今は出来ることをやるべきか……って、ちょっと待て。何かその言い方だとお前、オレについて来るみたいんだが？」
「そのつもりですが、何か問題がありますかな？」

ごく当たり前のように言われてしまったがおかしくないか。オレはいつこいつの同行を認めたっけか。
Although it said that it is very natural, Isn’t it strange? Until when and this fellow want to observe me?
いやいや、そもそも認めてないし
No no no, in the first place i’ve not yet approve it.
「この白骨が居れば何かと便利ですよ。あなたが対価を払っていただけるというなら進化のための条件をお教え差し上げてもよろしいのですが、いかかでしょう」
「な、なに？」
“If this skeleton is there it will be convenient you know. If you can pay the compensation, i can teach you the condition to evolve. How about that?”
“Wh, what?”
断ろうとしたオレの発言を察してか肉屋がその前に滑り込ませるようにして発言する。その内容はかなり魅力的だった。
Before i ‘m about to refuse it sensing that i’ll do that the butcher slipping that statement. The contents were quite attractive.
条件さえわかれば後はレベルを上げることに集中できるし、時間切れの心配がぐっと減る。
けれど、こいつにずっと付きまとわれるのは何となく嫌だ。どんなに礼儀正しくても見た目骸骨だしな。
If I know the requirement to evolve, I can concentrate on raising my level, and the worry for my skill time-up* strongly decreases.

However, somehow its unpleasant to tag along all the time with this fellow. No matter how polite it is, Its appearance is a skeleton.
「じゃあ例えば今すぐにその情報が欲しいとしたら対価ってのは何を支払えばいい？」
“Then, for example what if i want that information right now, what are the compensation that i should pay?”
感情だけで決めるわけにも行かないしとりあえず様子見だ。この内容が無理ならきっぱり断って、いけそうなら一先ず認めればいい。あくまで一時的にとして、嫌になったら別れる手もない訳ではないのだから。
I cannot decides to go with feeling only for now let’s just wait and see. If the compensation is unreasonable i’ll flatly refuses it, if its passable then it is fine to accept it for now. After all, its only temporary, if i don’t like it anymore, i’ll bid farewell to it.
“Right now huh? Well then, is it acceptable if you share some of your meat in this place? I have stop looking forward on your dead, but I still want to stock up on your meat because its very attractive as a merchandise.”
肉体の一部を差し出す。そんな難しい問題にどうするか深く考得て悩む、なんてことはしない。
Submitting some of my meat? I won’t do something like being troubled and thinking deeply because of that difficult problem.
「いいぞ、別に」
“It is fine, its nothing at all.”
即答である。
An immediate reply.
一見すると肉体の一部なんて大それたものを奪われるように聞こえるが、スライムのオレからして見ればなんてことはない。だって死ななければすぐに回復できるはずだし、そうじゃなくても肥大化してその分を補えばいい。
At first glance, depriving some part of the body sounds like an outrageous things to do, but if you look at it from my stand point as a slime its nothing at all. After all, as long as i’m not dead that part can be restored immediately, even if I’m not restore it, i can just enlarge myself to compensate for it
現にゴブリンの殴られた時に負った傷も薬草食ったらすぐに治った。今度も同じようにすれば何も問題ないだろう。薬草なんて腐る程そこら辺に生えているし。
Actually, the injury that i suffered when the goblin hit me are healed immediately when i eat some medicinal herb. There will be no problem if this time i just do it in the same way. There is countless medicinal herb growing in the neighborhood.
そもそもこの体の一部を肉と言っていいのかがまず疑問だが、肉屋が問題ないというなら大丈夫なのだろうということで気にしないことにする。
To begin with, it is questionable whether a part of this body can be called meat, but if the butcher have no problem with it then it is fine to say that it is meat, i won’t mind about it at all.
「ほう、これはまた即答で。では契約成立でよろしいですかな？」
“oh, again, an immediate answer. Then is it alright to establish a contract?”
頷いた瞬間にほんの少し体に痛みが走る。契約が成立した瞬間に肉が奪われたのだろう。
A pain runs on my body the moment i nodded my head in aggrement. Probably, meat was taken at the moment when the contract being concluded.
「これはまた、面白い商品を手に入れられました。ではこちらも約束は守ることにしましょう」
“Again, I come into possession of an interesting goods. Well then, this side will keep it promise.”
そう言って肉屋はここら一体で達成できそうな条件を幾つか教えてくれた。
Saying so, the butcher taught me some conditions that can be attained around here.
「よし、こうなったら早速進化しに行きますか」
「そうですね」
“Allright, if it like this shall we immediately go evolve you?”
“That’s right huh?!”
またしても普通に肉屋が答える。まあ、この対価が程度ならリスクなんてほぼ皆無でデカいリターンがあるのがわかったのだ。ついて来るのに不満も文句もあるわけがない。
Again, the butcher answer normally. Well, i understand that with this amount of compensation the risk are almost none, and there exist a huge return. There can be neither dissatisfaction nor complaint to come.
なので、オレはそのことに突っ込まずに移動し始める。
So I begin to move without retorting to it.
こうしてオレは異世界で一人目の仲間を手に入れたのだった。
Thus, I obtained my first companion on this another world.
