REFORM CLUB,

PALL MALL, S.W.1.

18th Jan  1918

Dear Mrs. de Laszlo

You will see in today's Times that Lord Beresford made a most unfortunate and untrue attack upon your husband and my reply is [illegible] reported that his statements were untrue and that if he repeated them outside the house

[Page 2]

he would have to account for what he said.[1] Ld Selborne[2] who came instantly after confirmed my view.

But you had better get the Hansard report of yesterday’s debate which will probably be published tomorrow, and then

[Page 3]

you will see more fully what was said.

I spoke to Ld. Beresford and told him he had been seriously misinformed but he did not tell me who his informant was.

Yours sincerely,

Sheffield
