[1] Possibly a reference to the Royal Amateur Art Society’s annual exhibition held in Lord and Lady’s Bathurst’s London residence at Belgrave Square in April 1930; Dame Alice Godman had assembled a loan exhibition in an adjoining room (see, for example, “Royal Amateur Society”, Cheltenham Chronicle, Saturday 5th April 1930, p.2).
