Gospel Value/Saint for April: Stewardship for Creation/St. Francis of Assisi April 5, 2016
In this issue
Start by doing what is necessary,
Then what is possible,
And suddenly you are doing the impossible.
-St. Francis of Assisi
Gospel Values Assembly
On Monday, April 4th, the Junior Liturgy team led our Gospel Values Assembly. For March, we celebrated St. Patrick and recognized students who show respect for the dignity of all people in their daily actions. A special thanks to all members of our school community who were able to attend the assembly. For April, our saint is Francis of Assisi and our Gospel Value is stewardship for creation.
EAP Flea Market
Miss Hodgins Grade 5 and Miss Beardsley’s Grade 5/6 students are taking part in the Entrepreneurial Adventure program to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund. In their next effort, they will be holding a Flea Market on Friday, April 8th in the gym. Gently used toys would be welcomed for our flea market by Wednesday, April 6.
Items will range in price from $1 to $5 and there will be two raffle baskets. Raffle baskets will be on display at the front office starting Monday, April 4. The raffle basket themes are “School” (pens, pencils, notebooks) and “Fun Day” (glow sticks, lanterns, ball). Raffle tickets will be on sale during the Flea Market and will cost $1 for 1 ticket and $2 for 3 tickets.

The EAP team will pick the boy and girl who jumped the longest and they will each win a prize! The Grade 3 students are encouraged to bring in a donation for the WWF, but everyone will receive a prize, even if they are not able to make a donation.

A reminder that Friday, April 15, 2016 is a PD Day. There will be no school that day as the teachers will be participating in a variety of professional development activities.
Rock the Arts Puppet Presentation
We are very fortunate to have Rock the Arts, an Ottawa-based professional puppet company, coming to the school, on April 20-21. Rock the Arts will do puppet performances and workshops in the Learning Commons. All students in the school will have the opportunity to attend one of the performances.
