- How can I keep a clear focus on my students?- reminds me of our equity work
- Structure 2: Effective Pedagogy
- Active learning
- Strategic Comprehension- Harvey & Goudvis
- Monitor comprehension
- Activate and connect to background knowledge
- Ask questions
- Infer and visualize
- Determine the most important info
- Summarize and synthesize
- Structure 3: A Strategic Use of Technology
- SAMR-
- Kids learn from us how to use tech including all its potential
- What apps/ tools will improve or enhance the lesson
- Which apps/ tools can students use all year long
- How will tech make activity more authentic or connect to real audience
- Structure 4: Student Independence
- Focus on topics students care about- Wonder projects/ inquiry classroom
- Put the thinking back into kids’ hands
- Goal setting
- Structure 5: A Commitment to Collaboration
- Build a culture of collaboration
- Co- creation, explicit instruction on how to collaborate, a culture of love and respect
- Structure 6: Both Creation AND Consumption
- Creation- using digital tools for sharing ideas, deepening learning, collaborating, inquiry, connecting with authentic audience
- Consumption- using digital tools passively
- Consume critically- read many sources and make your own opinion
- Ex: using padlet to share many sources for students to read on a topic
- Structure 7: A Student Focused Physical Environment
- Sit in your students seat- do you have all the tools nearby to be successful?
- We change our space- we change our mindset
- If we teach in a dynamic space, our delivery needs to be dynamic too!
