What is the NPCFL Evaluation process?
The process has changed and will be a combination of a camp and evaluation process. The evaluations for the 1-2 Divisions will be ran by the NPCFL Board and Coaches. The evaluations for the 3-4 and 5-6 Divisions will be ran by the NPHS Coaches and Players. It will be held in July from 6-7:00pm for the 1-2 Division and 7:30-9:00 pm for the 3-4 and 5-6 Divisions.
Each night will begin with group instruction; players will then be divided into groups and rotate through a number of drills. This schedule should eliminate conflicts with baseball and summer weekend plans. Having the NPHS Staff involved will also enhance the level of instruction and allow the NPCFL Board and Coaches to focus on the evaluation of players.
Are evaluations mandatory?
Yes. They are crucial to the overall success of our league. Our primary goal is to have as equal teams a possible. This task is extremely difficult and nearly impossible without thorough evaluations. New and experienced players need to be at as many of the nights as possible. If you are unable to make all of the evaluations, you need to notify the Board.
What should I expect when I arrive at evaluations?
Upon arrival, there will be a check-in table for each division. Each table will have a piece of tape with your child's name, grade and will be a specific color. Groups are assembled based on players size and experience level. It is not uncommon for participants to be reassigned to new groups so make sure to check-in each night. Each division will be assigned a specific field or area (1-2, 3-4, 5-6), please direct your child to this location. Each evaluation will start with a warm-up and group instruction. After the group instruction, each grade- color group will be assembled and assign a starting drill location. Each group will spend a designated amount of time and then rotate to the next station. Instruction and drills will follow a progressive model, attendance for each night is recommended.
How are the teams selected / assigned?
At the end of each evaluation, coaches will assemble with the other coaches in their division and review their evaluation notes. After the final evaluation, the coaches will prepare a final ranking for each player based on size, skill and experience. Teams in the 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6 divisions are drafted by their prospective coaches.
When will I find out what team my child is on?
You should receive an automated email from our registration system on the evening of team selections. You should also receive a call and email from the head coach within 48 hours of the team selections. They will notify you of your practice location and any other team information.
When and where are the practices?
Practices are typically every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Pre-season Saturday practice times will be at your coach's discretion. Practices will be located in the new practice area, just north of Werner field.
What if my child cannot be at practice?
You need to notify your coach ahead of time. The NPCFL has strict game playing time rules. If a participant has (1) unexcused practice or pre-game during a game week, playing time rules are not applicable to that participant. If they accumulate (2) unexcused practices or pre-game warm-up, they are not allowed to participate in that week's game.
Do I need to be present at practices?
Yes. We require each participant to have a responsible adult present at all NPCFL functions. If this adult is someone other than a legal guardian, please notify your coach prior to that function.
