Madame Devoto,

30, Cours Albert 1er,

PARIS

No doubt you will have heard that on June 1st an important collective Exhibition of my works will be officially opened at the Galeries Charpentier, rue Faubourg St Honore, Paris[1]         Included in the collection will be pictures of mine sent from various countries, and I have endeavoured to obtain those which I hold in greatest favour I should therefore be grateful if you would kindly give me the opportunity to include the portrait of your daughter, Maria Juana [4877], which I consider one of my outstanding works          I have already included it on my list which I have forwarded to Monsieur Charpentier, who is arranging to collect all my pictures which are in Paris, so I am hoping this letter will reach you in sufficient time to cause you no inconvenience in regard to handing over the picture which I much hope you will kindly consent to my having

All my pictures will be returned to their owners at the close of the Exhibition at the end of June, and all responsibility in regard to their packing and insurance, etc will be borne by me.

I shall look forward to hearing from you at an early date and much hope you will kindly consent to my having the portrait, as I have to make arrangements for the Catalogue, to which Monsieur Camille Mauclair[2] will write a preface
