- Use Flip Chart to review vocabulary terms.
- Ask the children the following questions: What kind of sound does the bird makes? (High) Is it a low sound or a high sound? (Low) What kind of sound does the bullfrog makes? Is it low or high? (Low) What kind of sound does the a siren makes (Loud) (So they can hear it far way.) Could you hear the clock ticking from far away? Why not? (It has a soft sound.)
- Display Flip Chart page 47.
- Have the children name objects and describe the sound that it makes.
- Discuss that sound travels through the air and is something we can hear.
- Have children rest their hands in a piano and a drum as I play it.
- Ask the children how does it feel.
- Explain that sounds they heard were made by what they felt.
- Demonstrate how a rubber band vibrates.
- Have the children use picture clues and answer questions.
- Ask: What kinds of sounds did we talk about? (soft, lowd, high, and low) What body part do you use to hear? What would happen if you did not have ears?
