Email, Josh Havens, deputy press secretary, Gov. Rick Perry, April 16, 2013

We are still waiting on a response from President Obama. The only letter that came to us was from John Brennan while he was serving as Assistant to the President for  Homeland Security and Counterterrorism. I have attached a copy of the letter from Brennan. If you still want to continue with your PIR, please email your request to:  publicrecords@governor.state.tx.us

Subject: Seeking response and making a public information request

Josh:

Gov. Perry told CNN on April 5 that he has yet to get a response to the letter stressing border security that he handed Barack Obama at the Austin airport in August 2010. (I am pasting CNN’s transcript below.)

If you have any information on this claim to share, please let me know.

Under the Texas Public Information Act, I seek access to correspondence including letters and emails from the White House or US Department of Homeland Security to the governor or other employees of the Governor’s Office on US-Mexico border issues from Aug. 8, 2010 through April 5, 2013, particularly correspondence touching on security. I would be happy to review available documents at your office.

Thanks.

W. Gardner Selby
