Finally our Cross Country day had arrived. Our whole school walked over to the farm to get ready for our races.

I felt nervous  at the starting line. I was worried that I might come last and get embarrassed.

Our race was a big one. We had to run two times around the track.

After the first time around my heart was beating as fast as a train. My lungs already felt sore and I still had a whole track to run. My legs were getting sore and wobbly. “Don’t give up!” I said to myself. “Pick up the hoe of Kaha and keep going.”

I could see the muddy puddles. I felt the squishy squashy mud. I felt really tired. Then I could hear everyone cheering loudly. The cheers helped to get some more energy to keep going in my race.

Finally I made it to the finish line. Yay! I felt proud because I came 2nd.
