Course Description

Intro to Health Science introduces students to basic body systems, medical terminology, diseases,

disorders and possible careers in the health and medical field.  This course prepares students for a

College level Anatomy and Physiology, HS1 and HS2.

Length: Semester

Prerequisite: None; for any students in grade 10, passed both semesters of general science

Make up work and Late work policy:

   Late work and Make up work  is accepted until the day before progress reports or report cards.   

Professional skills: (5 points a day)

  •        Be ON TIME - in seat when bell rings - 1pt
  •        USE Restroom prior to class - 1pt
  •        CHECK IN PHONE - 1 pt
  •        PARTICIPATE  in class discussions and Hands on practice - 1pt
  •       Be Respectful (1pt)

Grading

Materials

  • Many assignments will be posted in Google Classroom.
  • Please bring your charged Chromebook to class every day!
  • Students will need a 1” Binder for collecting Unit classwork. This notebook is a requirement.

About Me

  • This is my 28th year teaching in the David Douglas School District! I taught elementary for 19 years at Cherry Park and Gilbert Park. This is my 9th year at the high school
  • I was a Paramedic prior to becoming an educator.
  • I live in Sandy with my 3 daughters (2 in college, and 1 at Alice Ott)
  • I love music, animals, and spending time outdoors.
  • I love opening the world of possible careers and helping students believe they can do anything they put their mind to.
