Recognize that leaves have different shapes. 

 What do you observe in the leaves?

  1. Display Flip chart page 14.
  2. Read aloud title and track text.
  3. Have the children identify the pictured materials.
  4. Ask : What other things in this room have the same shape as this?
  5.  Have the children name some classroom objects that are shape like a rectangle, triangle, and a circle. 
  6. Have the children make leaf print using paper and paint.
  7. Have the children look at the leaf print.
  8. Ask: What do you observe in the leaves? What shape do you see in the print you made?
  9. Display different leaves.
  10. Ask: Which of these leaves have a round shape? Which look like a triangle? Which leaves are long and thin? which are short and wide? Which are small, and which are large?Do any of these leaves have a rough edge? Are some with jagged edges? What is the same about leaves? What differences do you notice in leaves?

  1. Display different leaves.
  2. Ask: Which of these leaves have a round shape? Which look like a triangle? Which leaves are long and thin? which are short and wide? Which are small, and which are large?Do any of these leaves have a rough edge? Are some with jagged edges? What is the same about leaves? What differences do you notice in leaves? 
  3. Distribute crayons, and construction paper to each child.
  4. Have the children place the leaf under a construction paper and rub the crayon on the paper.
  5. Have the child discuss what shape is his leaf.
