President’s Pitch

Vicki Barham

Hi All!

Can’t believe how fast the summer went by.  Leagues are over and only a few more outdoor tournaments to play in.

The CHPA would like to thank all the League Presidents and Statisticians for all their hard work.  I would like you to take this time to reflect how we can make it easier for next year and how we can improve our membership.  Create websites or a webpage for your league information? Create posters or bulletins for your local city recreation activities guide? We are starting to work on a new dedicated page in our CHPA website for leagues.  I would like to use this page to display league results and pictures.  So if you have any of that please forward to me.

The Annual Tournament and League directors meeting is on October 26.  The physical location will be at the Arvada United Methodist Church, 10AM - 12ish PM.  This is when we work on the pitching schedule for next year.  We also discuss how the State tournament went and how we can improve them.  We also will discuss next year’s State Tournament locations.  We will set aside how we can improve our membership.  So please attend physically or virtually by phone or on your computer.  We welcome all suggestions.

The CHPA wants to congratulate all of our  pitchers and winners who attended the 2024 State Single Championships.  A special thank you to the Colorado Springs Club and to Sheila Shepard for hosting and running another great tournament.  And to all of our recipients of a CHPA awards and Hall of Fame.

We have one more State Tournament to play, the State League Championships.  This year we will have 8 teams competing.  This will be an all day tournament, pitching in the morning with a lunch break around noon.  We will finish the remaining games in the afternoon.  The CHPA will provide sloppy joes and hotdogs, if you are attending please bring a side dish to share.  Scorekeepers will be needed and you’ll be paid the standard scorekeeping fee.  Come and cheer on your local club.  The winners will automatically be entered into next year's tournament.

That’s it for now.  See you at the pits.

Vicki
