TIME COMMITMENT
RAA Leads are expected to assist with all training sessions and Satellite Intensive setup. RAA Leads must be available to start May 18, 2025, and work through the end of their Satellite Location Intensive. The contract period is contingent upon the successful completion of assigned duties, projects and performance appraisals.
Availability
This internship does not follow a traditional 9–5, Monday–Friday schedule. Duty shifts are assigned Monday through Sunday, based on the class schedule at the studios and 24/7 dorm shifts. Leaders must be prepared to work morning, afternoon, or evening shifts throughout the week.
Aside from scheduled duty shifts, meetings and projects, Leaders should be available to staff and students. Leaders live in the hall with the staff and students. If a student knocks on a staff member's door (even if they are not on duty), they need to assist them. If one of our students is involved in a special situation, the Leader may be called back from time off to assist.
Holidays, Breaks and Vacation Periods
Leaders are required to be available every Saturday and Sunday. Staff members should communicate all conflicts during their interview and will not be able to request a “day-off” on Saturdays or Sundays. Joffrey Ballet School will not close for any holidays during the summer sessions.
Meetings & Activities
Leaders must participate in all meetings: housing and program orientations, weekly staff meetings, reviews and one-on-one meetings with the supervisor. Leaders could also be assigned to escort and chaperone extra activities.
Performance weeks
Performance weeks (end-of-intensive weeks) are traditionally a busier time at the studios and residence halls. This time
includes overlapping intensives, extra rehearsals, preparation for performances all while completing the weekly check-in/out days, extra activities and meetings. Staff members will not receive a “day-off” during performance weeks. Leads will be expected to assist with the performance, and liaise between artistic leadership and their RAA team.
