Paris, 148 bis rue de longchamps, 16eme

16th February

Dear Sir,

I am writing to remember me to you as the friend of the Baronne de Baeyens, whom you met as you were making her portrait in London [probably 2825]![1] Now here is the favour I am asking you on behalf of a very interesting and talented French woman artist: Mme [Jossy Tillon?]. She is asking me what she should do for her works to be included in an exhibition of society portraits which is apparently being organised by yourself and the Duc de Guiche[2] next spring? I am imposing on your time and beg you to be kind enough to give me some information about this. Pardon, dear Sir, my being indiscreet and believe me still a sincere admirer of your work.

[illegible initials] Platford Raby

Please also remind me to Mrs de Lazlo [sic] who kindly had me as her guest several times

[1] Baronne Marcel Baeyens, née Suzanne Desmons (1884-1949) [2825]. In 1911, de László painted the Baroness [2825] at the instigation of

Gaston Calmette, Director of Le Figaro. The following year, the artist painted a study-portrait of the Baroness for Calmette [111088], at the Baroness’ request it seems.
