 The children will:

  • Explore forests
  • Will learn about the different animals and plants that are found in the forests.

Who lives in the forests? 

  1. The teacher will ask the students if they remember some of the stories we have read that took place in the forest.
  2. Ask: Do you remember some of the animals mentioned in the stories.
  3. The teacher will read aloud the poem “Forest Animals.”
  4.  Ask: What words the author uses to describe the animals? Do you know any animal that is ________? (Furry, prickly, feathery, slippery. Noisy, smelly, and skin like jelly)
  5. Have children look at the pictures.
  6. Have the children name and describe the animals that appear on the pictures.
  7. Have the children name other forest animal not shown in the pictures.
  8. Have the children describe the forest scene.
  9. The teacher will talk why forests are important habitats.
  10. Have the children answer the following questions: What is a forest? Who lives in the forest? What things do we get from the forest?

 The children will be able to identify things in the natural environment that are important to one’s self.

 

  1. Review forests.
  2. Have the children stand with their arms outstretched.Then I will tell them that each of them are alone is a tree.
  3. Have the children recall some of the animals they said live on the trees.
  4. Mention other animals that were not mention by the children.
  5. Read aloud “On My Tree.”
  6. Have the children answer the following questions: What do you think it would be like to live on the forests? What are some of the animals that live in the forests? Why do you think the animals live in the forests? What do you think we get from the forests? Why do you think people want to protect the forest?
