Formulas Used in Unit 10

Perimeter of a rectangle.

        Where P = perimeter, l = length, w = width

Area of a rectangle.

A = bh                  Where A = Area,  b = base,  h = height

Sum of the interior angles of a polygon.

S = 180(n - 2)        Where n = the number of sides,  s = sum of the angles

Area of a parallelogram

Area of a trapezoid

A=\frac{1}{2} h(b_1+b_2)        Where A = Area, h = height, b1 = base 1, b2 = base 2

Area of rhombuses and kites

Surface area of a rectangular prism

Surface area of a triangular prism

SA = Area of three rectangles + Area of two triangles

Volume of a rectangular prism

                Where V = volume,  = area of the base,   = height.

Some people think of this formula as  Volume = length x width x height.
