Welcome to the Western Massachusetts Community Mutual Aid network! In these scary and uncertain times, it’s important that we show up for each other and remember that we are not alone.
Mutual aid is a powerful way to build strong connections - we all have something to offer and we all have needs. This group is still building our infrastructure, but here’s what we have so far:
The info you provide will be directly uploaded into a back-end database that only our WMACMA organizers can view and use to reach out to you directly for support. You have the option of anonymity. If you have a need and find someone listed on the spreadsheet who has offered resources that could fill your need, go ahead and reach out to that person. Once your need has been met, please delete your info from the sheet or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know.
IF YOU NEED HELP WITH THIS, CONTACT THE PVWC HOTLINE (English/Español):
There is no ask that is too big and no one will ever be shamed for asking for what they need. If you’d prefer to not add your name + contact information on this public spreadsheet, you can have someone else submit for you, or you can email us at email@example.com with your request and we can add it for you anonymously.
Transportation & Distribution
...don’t see your town? Join us and let’s get started!
NOTE: These groups are self-organized, focused on Neighborhood Pod formations. Please feel empowered to take on leadership roles and take action. We will be triaging requests for support to these groups.
Pods are hyperlocal text message groups or phone trees of you and your neighbors. Since not everyone has access to online communication and might never see these google docs, neighborhood pods are how we reach more people. We are asking for folks to sign up as Neighborhood Point People, where you’d take on the responsibility of reaching out to your neighbors, moderating a neighborhood group chat or phone tree (on whatsapp or another communication tool), and staying in touch with the other point people for resource sharing. If you have the capacity to take on this role, please let us know ASAP on Slack and we’ll set you up with a toolkit of how to get started.
We are compiling an organized list of local resources. If something is missing, please send us an email and we will add it.
**Questions? Email us at WMAMutualAid@gmail.com
If you are located somewhere else, check out this how to replicate document for the Neighborhood Pod system, and pass it on! Get in touch if you’d like support or brainstorming help! <3
Help us build:
We are looking for support: this network was built in a matter of days and we definitely need help from more people to get this thing going on the scale that we need. Here are some roles that need to be filled:
Spreading the word - We need to spread the word about what we’re doing in concise and clear ways to ALL parts of the Pioneer Valley - help us make and distribute flyers, spread the word online, and reach out to other friends.
Admin/Coordinators - Since this group got up and running quickly with just a few friends, and rapidly grew to be 830 strong in just under a week, help streamlining and maintaining the online space and having eyes on documents will help make sure we can rotate roles and make sure nobody gets burned out.
Translations/Language Justice - Please reach out to our translation group if you have capacity to translate some of our materials. We are in need of a coordinator for this project.
Org Org - Why reinvent the wheel? The so-called Pioneer Valley is filled with awesome organizations that already have tons of resources and skills. We want to form networks with them to maximize mutual aid! Help us reach out to existing networks and figure out how to power up together.
Budgeting - Determining financial needs and distribution based on principles of harm reduction and effectivity.
