HUNGARIAN LEAGUE FOR REVISION
BUDAPEST
15. Dec. 1928.
To Philip de Laszló Esq.,
Hampstead.
We were delighted to hear from Eugene Rakosi[1] on his return from England that you, Sir, very generously offered to paint the portrait of Hungary’s great friend Lord Rothermere, for the Hungarian National Gallery [4759].
We are happy to think that by your thoughtful act we are offered an opportunity to show our gratitude to an unselfish and noble champion of Hungary’s just cause,[2] and that at the same time a work of art by our greatest portrait painter will be added to the Hungarian National Gallery.
On behalf of the undersigned three Societies we appeal to you Sir, to paint this portrait and we feel greatly indebted to you for giving us a masterpiece which we value beyond the ordinary standard of works of art.
Your obedient Servants.
Thomas Sontagh | President of the | Federation of Social | Clubs.
Baron Sigismund Perenyi | Chairman of the Hungarian National | Association.
Francis Herczegh | Chairman of the Hungarian | League for Revision.
