ADAMS, Margaret Louise HILLIARD, Fla. – Margaret Louise Adams, 66, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at Lifecare of Hilliard. A native of Sullivan County, Tenn., she was a resident of Kingsport for most of her life, having moved to Florida in the last year. Throughout her life, Mrs. Adams was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, as well as homemaker for her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weber City for over 15 years. She loved playing bingo, bowling, enjoyed canning her fresh grown vegetables and was a soap opera fanatic for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harold Adams, and by her brother, Ricky L. Meade. Her survivors include her son, Anthony Harold Adams; daughters, Susan D. Sells and Patricia "Trish" Davis; brothers, Larry Meade and Kenneth and Danise Snodgrass; and grandchildren, Jeffery Miles, Mathew and Joey Davis, Brandie M. Sells, Amanda Adams, Lochie Adams, Jami Kinchen and Anna Adams. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. ADAMS, William “B.B.” BRISTOL – William "B.B." Adams, 13 months, went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Kingsport, a son of Billy and Jessica Adams. He was an inspiration to all that knew him. He had more problems than anyone could handle but still smiled through it all. With one smile this child could warm the hearts of all who saw him. This child was here to show all the true miracles of God. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Laura Weiler. He is survived by his parents, Billy and Jessica Adams; sister, Lorvana Adams of the home; grandfather, Jimmy Arredondo of Houston; aunt, Amanda Beeler and fiancé Jeremy Leonard of Bristol Tennessee; and cousin, Jeremiah Leonard. AGUAS, Iluminada Dantoc BRISTOL, Tenn. – Iluminada Dantoc Aguas, age 90, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at her home. She was a native of the Philippines and had lived in the United States since 1955. She had been a resident of Tennessee for two years. She worked as a model, a school teacher, a beautician and, in later years, was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Prudencio D. Aguas Jr. and Rogelio D. Aguas. She is survived by her husband, Prudencio R. Aguas Sr.; two daughters, Thelma D. Aguas and Elizabeth Grace Aguas; three sons, Fernando D. Aguas, Eduardo D. Aguas and George D. Aguas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral mass will be conducted at 12 noon, Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, with Father Paul Maier and Rev. Mr. Harry Hall officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Anne's Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at St. Anne's Catholic Church, prior to the service.

AKERS, Elizabeth Burnette  BRISTOL – Elizabeth Burnette Akers, 77, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Bill Morris and Ann Cheek Jones. Elizabeth was a resident of the Tri-Cities area most of her life and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Kingsport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, N.O. Akers in 1984. Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Cassandra Ruecroft of Bristol Tennessee and Deborah Anthony of Houston; two sisters, Amaryllis VanHoy of Nashville and Mona Glover of Charleston, S.C.; an aunt, Elysie Arnold of Chattanooga; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Snyder's Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Henry officiating. Interment will privately be conducted at Snyder's Memorial Gardens. ALDEEN, Haseltine "Teen" W.  KINGSPORT – Haseltine "Teen" W. Aldeen, 77, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005. She had retired from Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, where she was a switchboard operator. Mrs. Aldeen attended Kingsport Community Church. But, more so, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Anna Watson; brother, Malcolm Watson; and sister, Margaret Johnson. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Joseph S. Aldeen; one son, Mark Aldeen and wife Debbie; three grandchildren, Brank, Jon and April Joy Aldeen; a sister, Shirley Johnson; sisters-in-law, Shirley Watson and Julia Aldeen; and several nieces and nephews. ALEXANDER, Linda Joyce  BRISTOL, Va. – Linda Joyce Alexander, age 55, went to be with her Lord, Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1950, in Washington County, Va., a daughter of the late Ed and Gillie Leonard. She was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. She was a homemaker and attended the Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Johnny Alexander; two daughters, Charleen Woodby, Bristol Virginia, and Rhonda Jones and husband Buck, Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Judy Fleenor and Norma Ramsey, both of Bristol Virginia; three brothers, Harold Leonard, Mike Leonard and Charles Leonard, all of Bristol Virginia; four grandchildren, Wesley and Corey Woodby, Brittany Alexander and Tanner Jones; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Woodby; and several nieces and nephews. ALLEY, Anna E. BRISTOL, Tenn. – Miss Anna E. Alley, age 84, went to be with the Lord Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at her home. She had been a longtime resident of Sullivan County and a daughter of the late Paul Preston and Myrtle Snapp Alley. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Kate and Ella Mae. Miss Alley was a retired employee of Beecham, with 45 years of service, and a member of Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Donald Paul Alley and wife Dorothy of Blountville; and several nieces and nephews, including Donna Hill and husband Clark, Deborah Callahan and husband Dave, Donella Gair and husband Kenny and Douglas Alley and wife Sunny. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, in the Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Anderson officiating. ALLISON, Virginia Lee Flick  BRISTOL, Tenn. – Virginia Lee Flick Allison, 89, passed away Tuesday, March, 1, 2005, at Wellmont Hospice House. She was a native of the Jacobs Creek Community of Sullivan County, Tenn., and lived in the Bristol area all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Allison, parents, Hugh T. Flick and Molly Gentry Flick, and sister Akard Wyatt. She was the last surviving charter member of Lynwood Bible Church, where she had served as the church secretary and as a Sunday School teacher. She is survived by her six children, Carlene Alvis and husband Bobby of Bristol Virginia, Elane Mitchell and husband Eddie of Bristol Tennessee, Sandra Wolfe of Marion, Cheryl Stout and husband Eddie of Bristol Virginia, Jack Allison of Los Angeles, and Fred Allison and Barbara McCurry of Blountville; three sisters, Elizabeth Allison, Marie Wilson and husband David, and Charlotte Boyd and husband Jack, all of Bristol Tennessee; three brothers, Oscar Flick of Covington, Ind., Everett Flick and wife Sylvia of Bristol Tennessee, and Ople Flick of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Allison Bellamy of Bristol Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Randy Alvis and wife Cindy, Robin Callahan and husband Steve, Travis Mitchell, Todd Mitchell and wife Chris, Staff Sgt. Jason Wolfe and wife Staff Sgt. ALMANY, Stewart Warner BRISTOL, Tenn. – Stewart Warner Almany, age 68, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Dillard Almany, and his father, Dallas Almany. ALMAROAD, Kenneth Lee  went to be with his Heavenly Father, Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 7, 1927, son of the late Charles and Maude Mobley Almaroad. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was a member of Bradley Street Baptist Church. He was retired from Bristol Steel and Iron Works. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Almaroad, and two brothers, Charles "C.J." Almaroad and Frank Almaroad. He is survived by two daughters, Margie Sargent and husband Randall, Bristol Virginia, and Debbie Cross and husband Ronnie, Bristol Tennessee; two sons, Ken A. Almaroad and wife Michelle, Bristol Virginia, and Steve Almaroad and wife Gina, Blountville; two brothers, James "Red" Almaroad and wife Jean and Eddie Almaroad and wife Debbie; sister, Margaret Bailey and husband Bill; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very special friend and neighbor, Charlie Westmoreland. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Carter Amos of the home; his maternal grandmother, Cathy Whicker and husband Danny, of Bristol Virginia; maternal grandfather, Jeff Young and wife Molly, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his paternal grandmother, Janet Hammonds of Blountville; maternal great-grandparents, Mary and Ralph Bowers of Bristol Virginia; maternal great-grandfather, Bill Young; paternal great-grandmother, Nellie Roberts of Blountville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. ANDERSEN, Mary Ann Cassity  BRISTOL, Va. – Mary Ann C. Andersen passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Bristol Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Norton, on Feb. 23, 1921, daughter of the late Edward C. Cassity and Stella Mae Cassity (Greer). She was a registered nurse, having been trained at St. Luke's in Richmond, where she was president of her senior class, and completed postgraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She was the operating room supervisor at Bristol Memorial Hospital at the time of her marriage and retired from nursing in 1981. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alex E. Andersen Jr.; three children, Mary Clayton Andersen Walker of Abingdon, Cris Andersen of Culpeper, Va., and Alex E. Andersen III of Bristol Tennessee; one brother, William C. Cassity of Pensacola, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jessica Ann Walker of San Francisco and Robert Clayton Walker of Abingdon. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 5 o'clock Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at St. Anne Catholic Church. Rev. Timothy Keeney will be the celebrant. ARNOLD, Edith L. Booher, age 83, went to be with the Lord Nov. 28, 2005, at Wellmont Hospice House.

She was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Bristol Virginia, the daughter of the late Howard and Theatta Faulkner Booher. She made her home in Bristol all her life and was a member of North Bristol Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include husband, Jason E. Arnold; sons, David E. Arnold, Jamey G. and wife Carolyn J. Arnold and Richard L. Arnold; grandchildren, Lisa Vanhook, Aaron Arnold, Justin Arnold, Jamey Arnold, Tracy Pope and Joey Arnold; great-grandchildren, Christopher Vanhook and Orbit Pope; brothers, Gene and Sherman Booher; special nephew, Jamey Arnold; and special niece, Thetta Snyder.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at 7 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Roy Hull officiating. The burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at 11 a.m. in Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. ARNOLD, Joe E. Sr., age 64, went home to be with the Lord at 9:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Wellmont Hospice House surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle against cancer. A native and lifelong resident of Bristol Tennessee, he was a son of the late Charlie and Mary Christian Arnold. He married Ann Harr on June 23, 1962. Mr. Arnold was employed by Crawford Drywall and was of the Baptist faith. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Forrest Swan and staff and to Dr. Gerry Boccarossa and staff for all the kindness and help extended during Mr. Arnold's illness. Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Arnold and Charles Arnold. ARNOLD, Kaye, 69, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Wellmont Hospice House after a battle with cancer. She was born in Gate City, and had lived most of her life in Bristol. She was retired from General Shale Block (formerly Bris-Blox) and was the widow of Jack Arnold. Survivors include two sons, Chuck Bondurant and his wife Debbie of Bristol Virginia and Blake Bondurant and his wife Beverly of Bristol Tennessee; a brother, Gary Draughn of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Candice Peery and Brent Bondurant; a great-granddaughter, Jade Peery; and several special friends. ARWOOD, Mary Genevieve, 82, of 117 Grove Park, went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Hamlin, W.Va., and daughter of the late James and Cora Nida Browing. She was a retired assembler with Raytheon and a member of Saint Luke United Methodist Church, where she taught the Ladies Bible Class. She was a former member of Lynnwood Bible Church and Open Door Bible Church, where she taught Sunday school classes. She served as a nurse's aide during World War II. Surviving is a loving sister, Anna Lee Puckett, Bristol Tennessee; nieces, Deborah Morton, Bristol Tennessee, and Holly Lovelace, Aylett, and Lollie Lamb of Greeneville, Tenn.; nephews, Sam Puckett, Nashville, Larry Puckett, Cleveland, Tenn., David Puckett, Knoxville, and Stevie Self of Greeneville. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday in Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Eggers and the Rev. Gale Flanary officiating. ASHLEY, Joe D.  passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Bristol, a son to the late William and Willie McCracken Ashley. He was a graduate of Holston Valley High School, where he was a standout basketball player. Mr. Ashley retired from Electrolux and was a member of Fellowship Chapel. She was an extremely talented printing design and layout artist and businesswoman. She is survived by her husband, John Davis "Dave" Bachman; two sons, Dustin Michael Cardwell and Isaiah Barrett Cardwell; her brother, Ron Palin; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. BAKER, Vincent C., age 72, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Baker was born on Sept. 2, 1932, in Scott County, Va., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos and Cordia Baker. On Sept. 1, 1956, he and Barbara Greenwood were married in Cedar Grove, Wis. They made their home in Blountville for the last 48 years. Mr. Baker retired from Campton Electronics, in Campton, Ky., in 1989. He was vice president of Quality Assurance. Mr. Baker was also chosen to Who's Who in America Professional 1998 Society. Mr. Baker was a member of the Blountville Presbyterian Church, and had served as a deacon and elder. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge 174, Mendota; Johnson Commandery 14, Bristol Virginia; and Jericho Temple, Kingsport. He also served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Baker Dixon, and by one daughter, Pamela J. Light. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Barbara J. She was the founder and first president of Town & Country Garden Club, served as a missionary in Africa, with the Southern Baptist Convention and was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Barker, and a brother, Howard Holt. Born June 28, 1932, in Powderly, Ky., he was a son of the late Goad and Janie May Daniels Barnett. He had lived in the Bristol area since 1977 and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. She was always a very jolly and giving person, free-spirited and independent and was a very loving daughter, sister and mother. BARR, Pearlie Bell Felty, 92, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Virginia, had lived in the Bristol area all of her life and was of the Presbyterian faith. Her gift of music, which she shared so selflessly with everyone, was one of her greatest enjoyments of life. The music of her life will live on in our hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Howard Barr; her parents, Issac Jackson Felty and Nora Ellen Houser Felty; and a son, Howard Lee Barr. He was born in Bristol Tennessee, son of the late Roland J. and Virginia Coatlin Price Barr, and was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Bristol Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Barr, sisters, Odell Reynolds and Violet Roark, and grandson, Daniel Hall. He is survived by his wife, Mary B. (Jackie) Barr of the home; one son, Gary L. Barr and wife Gwen of Monroe; three daughters, Linda Weems and husband Ken, Judith Engler and husband Mike and Barbara Smith, all of Bristol Tennessee; one brother, Robert Barr and wife Grace of Kingsport; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two nieces; and one nephew. BELLAMY, Lawrence Milburn, 90, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at Wexford House, Kingsport.

He was a Bell Ridge Road resident for several years before going to Asbury Place at Kingsport and then to Wexford House. He was born in Gate City on Nov. 19, 1915, a son of the late James A. Bellamy and Lillie Bell Williams Bellamy. Lawrence lived most of his life in Kingsport. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edna Bays Bellamy, in 1999; daughter, Glenda Bellamy, in 1994; sisters, Kathleen Herron, Beatrice Bellamy, Hallie Bellamy, Rhoda Jones and Leota Lane. Lawrence lived to have his 90th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005. He was very active and faithful in his churches of which he was a member, first Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Hiltons, and then moving his membership to Morrison's Chapel United Methodist Church, Kingsport. He served both churches in many capacities, as superintendent of Sunday school, Bible teacher, music director, Holston Conference lay leader and delegate to the Holston Conference. Lawrence was a member of the Emmaus Walk Community. He was a volunteer with the North Kingsport Volunteer Fire Department and the East Carter's Valley Ruritan Club. Lawrence worked at Firestone Stores in Kingsport, retiring after 30 years of service in 1977. He received many awards for his service to and for others: Ruritan Man of the Year 1984 and Outstanding Service Award 1989. He and his wife, Edna, were awarded for devoted service to Christianity from the Kingsport District United Methodist Adults.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, with distinguished honors for bravery and the capturing of Hitler's bodyguard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3 and a member of the Kingsport Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving is one sister, Ruby Marie Bowen, Kingsport, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Homer Roller and the Rev. Keith Bates officiating. Music will be provided by the Morrison's Chapel Choir under the direction of Linda Childress.

Charles DeWitt Byrd Post 3382 of the VFW will conduct military graveside rites following the service at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hiltons. Mrs. Bledsoe was born Feb. 4, 1912, a daughter of the late John R. and Virgie Dills Poore, and had made her home in Bristol all of her life. She was of the Baptist faith, the widow of James W. Bledsoe and a retired employee of Bell's Henny Penny and Felty's Chicken. Mrs. Bledsoe was a loving mother and grandmother to her daughters, Brenda Johnson and her husband Glen, and Barbara Gilliam and her husband John; and grandchildren, Jeff Gilliam, Ricky Gilliam and wife Michelle, Greg Johnson and wife Lisa, Kristin Hooper and husband Jeff, Stacey Grissner and husband David and Jason Johnson and wife Rachelle; and great-grandchildren, Jordon and Rachel Johnson, Aden and Cade Hooper and Derek, Kristi, Jessica and Jon Gilliam. BOLING, Margaret Alice Henninger, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the Cambridge House after a lengthy illness. She was born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Jacob and Ruby Phipps Henninger. She was owner and operator of Calico Flag Car Company and was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Boling; a sister, Elizabeth Romines; and two brothers, Claude and Donald Henninger.

BOOHER, Cora Frye Stophel, age 97, went to be with the Lord Feb. 8, 2005, while at Cambridge House, Bristol Tennessee. Mrs. Booher had been in declining health for several years and had been lovingly cared for in her home by her daughter, Betty Sapp, until very recently. Mrs. Booher was born Nov. 27, 1907, in Sullivan County, to John C. and Sarah Jane (Jenny) Frye. She reared eight children and was a most devoted wife and mother. At an early age, she made her profession of faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church, near her home. She was active in her church until physically unable to attend.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar William Stophel, her second husband, William A. Booher, her beloved granddaughter, Phyllis Stophel Bethea, and stepsons, W.A. Booher Jr. and Lloyd Booher. Surviving children and spouses are: John and Pauline Stophel, Ralph and Mary Stophel, Larry and Karen Stophel and Woods and Judy Blake, all of the Chattanooga area, Glenn and Jackie Stophel of Franklin, Tenn., Charlotte Robinson of Memphis, Tenn., and Doris Baines and Betty Sapp of Bristol. Surviving stepchildren and spouses are: Barbara Jane Whitson, Lawrence and Betty Booher, Ted and Carol Booher, Walter and Rita Dowell, Melvin and Eloise Bentley, and Donna Booher, all of Bristol, Gordon and Claire Booher, Clay and Sandra Booher of North Carolina, Bill and Lois Usher of Georgia, and Helen Booher of Florida. Mrs. Booher was blessed with 21 grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 31 step-great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, who loved her very much. Many of these descendants served her with loving attention during her declining health. BOSTIC, Everett Thomas BLOUNTVILLE – Everett Thomas Bostic, 56, was called unexpectedly to join his wife, Wanda McKinney Bostic, and his Lord and Savior Monday morning, Dec. 5, 2005. Tom was born in Kingsport and had resided in Blountville since 1982. He was a maintenance electrician for TVA John Sevier since 2000. He was an outstanding member of IBEW, for which he traveled throughout the United States. Tom was a Christian man, who extensively studied the Bible, including Greek, and had an extremely close relationship with God. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany for one year in the 7th Army 36th Air Defense, and in Vietnam, where he served with the 92nd Artillery Battalion, C Battery and under 1st Field Forces from 1967-1968, serving in the Battle of Dak Toe and Tet offensives. He was a member of Charles DeWitt Byrd Post 3382 of the VFW. Tom was extremely honored to have served his God and country. Tom enjoyed chess, kayaking, fishing and watching the UT Vols. He will be especially missed by his three daughters, whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda McKinney Bostic in 1993, father and stepmother, Everett M. and Juanita Bostic, and brother, Bobby J. Bostic. BOUTON, Verna V. PINEY FLATS – Verna V. Bouton passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center. Verna was a native of Sullivan County and was the daughter of the late Raymond William and Opal Phillips Bouton. She was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church. Verna was a graduate of Mary Hughes High School in the Class of 1939. She was also a graduate of Bristol Business College of Bristol Tennessee. In 1944, she went to Washington, D.C., where she worked for 27 years for the National Security Agency and its predecessor, the Department of Defense. She took an early retirement in 1971 and returned to her home in Sullivan County. Later, after retirement, she became interested in genealogy and was able to compile and publish a book on the Bouton family history. It was through this project that she made many friends and met some distant relatives. Survivors include two aunts, Mrs. William E. "Junior" (Lois) Bouton of Piney Flats and Mrs. Paul K. (Providence) Bouton of Charlotte, N.C.; and several cousins, loving friends and neighbors. She is also survived by special loving friends, Roland, Cindy, Justin and Jamie Whittemore and Bill and Myrtle Cross. BOYD, John Franklin KINGSPORT – John Franklin Boyd, 88, moved to his new home in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 30, 2005, following a short illness.

John was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Russell County, Va. He was a son of the late George Morgan Boyd and Sallie (Wallace) Boyd. He was married to his beloved late wife, Martha Faye (Cox) Boyd, for 63 years before her death. John graduated from Honaker High School. Under the guidance of an uncle, he became a master builder of homes. His career was interrupted by four years of honorable service in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge of military service, he became a construction superintendent for Cassell Brothers Commercial Construction Company, where over the next 30 plus years, he was instrumental in the construction of several buildings still in use on the East Tennessee State Campus in Johnson City. Other accomplishments included Freedom Hall in Johnson City, multiple elementary, middle and high schools in upper East Tennessee, as well as multiple projects at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport. It was his fairness, his pride in the quality of his work ethic that were praised by all who knew him. He was an avid gardener, and his fruits, vegetables and gardening tips were shared with all of his friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Wilson Boyd. John is survived by his son, Dr. Arthur Morgan Boyd and wife Kathi Boyd of Kingsport; his grandchildren, Bryan Morgan Boyd and Amanda Brooke Boyd, both of Kingsport; a stepgrandchild, James Boatright of Goose Creek, S.C.; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Thelma L. Hagy of Abingdon. Calling hours will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the East Lawn Funeral Home and other hours at the residence of his son, Dr. Arthur Boyd and wife Kathi. BRADDOCK, Alberta Johnson BRISTOL, Tenn. – Alberta Johnson Braddock, age 86, passed away Feb. 18, 2005, after complications following a fall. She was preceded to her Heavenly home by her husband, David Braddock. Our mother was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., on Aug. 3, 1918. Growing up there, she was a featured soloist at her Lutheran church. While working as a secretary for the Dupont Company, she met a handsome ceramic engineer, whom she would marry. They moved to Bristol to raise a family. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He attended the West Hills Christian Church and was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Brewer. BROOME, Oscar Gray “Buddy” Jr. BRISTOL, Va. – Oscar Gray "Buddy" Broome Jr., 69, graduated from this life on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at Wellmont Hospice House after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Kingsport on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1936, the son of the late Oscar Gray and Blanche Virginia Stitt Broome. He was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School, where he was a member of the football team. He received a master's degree from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt. After serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was employed by Raytheon Company of Bristol and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He served 34 years with the Bristol Virginia Police Department, retiring as chief of police in 1993. He was a member of the Pompano Beach Florida Police Department for a short time in 1967. He was a member of the Bristol Virginia School Board for more than seven years, serving as chairman for five terms and vice chairman for one term. He was an adjunct instructor at two Virginia community colleges, served as director of the former Bristol Virginia Police Training School and had served as chairman of the Southwest Law Enforcement Academy. He was a past president of the Virginia State Crime Clinic and the Tri-State Crime Clinic. He was also a former Boy Scoutmaster and Explorer advisor and served on various public service boards and committees. He was a member of Highlands Fellowship Church in Abingdon. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Jane Gilmer Broome; daughter, Barbara Broome Cable and husband Bart of Chandler, Ariz.; sons, Douglas Allan Broome and Michael Gray Broome and wife Dana, all of Bristol Virginia; sister, Joan Broome Zeller of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. BULLOCK, Stephen A. died Dec. 25, 2004 at the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice House in Pensacola, Florida, of cancer. He was 55 years old. Born March 23, 1949, in Elizabethton, Tenn., he was a son of the late Robert L. and Susan Farthing Bullock. Mr. Bullock received his master's degree in environmental science from East Tennessee State University and, after many years of service in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, had recently retired. CAMPBELL, Rev. Howard, pastor of the Rooty Branch Freewill Baptist Church for more than 30 years, realized his long-awaited dream of fulfilling one of his favorite scriptures, II Corinthians 5:8 "to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord." Rev. Campbell passed from this life Tuesday night, June 14, 2005, at his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from the City of Bristol Tennessee. He had worked for many years at Tipton Construction and Penley Construction Company. He also worked many years as an owner/operator of Campbell Construction in the Holston Valley area. He had been a member of the Rooty Branch Church for nearly 50 years and, in addition to serving as pastor, was a trustee and former deacon and teen Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the John Wheeler Association of Freewill Baptist. He was a native of Shady Valley, Tenn., and the son of the late Wilder Campbell and Martha "Granny" Gragg Campbell Garland and Arvil Garland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virgie Howington Campbell, and two sisters, Aileen Pruitt and Margarett Garland.
