Tournament Notes:

"Well folks, it's official.. Medicine Hat 60's Huff 'n Puff's have defeated the Lethbridge Old Dogs 2-1 in our best of 3 playoff in Lethbridge on Saturday June 3rd. I know,, you have been patiently waiting by your computer's, waiting for the write-ups so you could officially start celebrating our magnificent win. Well, go crack a cold one, and I will give you the blow-by-blow summary..

1st game - it was a beautiful thing. MH 32 - Dogs 19

2nd game - not quite so beautiful. MH 15 - Dogs 19 (they got lucky)!!

3rd game - very beautiful.. MH 18 - Dogs 9.

We revived ourselves with a burger and a beer between games, and came back flying high.

Summary of Players on the Huff 'n Puff's in our batting order.

Trent Rasch - batted 9 for 13, .692, and pitched all 3 games (exceptional)

Derry Eresmen - batted 10/13, .769 and played OF

Royce Hopkins - batted 7/13, .538, and exceptional SS all 3 games. Many DP's.

John Engle - batted 9/13, .692. Had to play 1st and catch as he screwed up his foot.

Larry Larson - batted 9/13, .692, played great OF and a couple huge triples.

Tim Seitz - batted 8/12, .666, solid 2B and many DP's with Royce.

Randy Biko - batted 7/12, 583 and hit the only over-the-fence HR of the day.

Jamie White - batted 11/12, .916 and had an inside-the park HR, 3rd base.

Mike Ferre - batted 7/12, .583 and a very solid OF. Had to pinch run for all our gimps..

Mickey Getten - batted 6/11, .545, rotated at 2nd & 3rd. Excellent job.

Jim Larson - batted 4/10, .400, catch, 1st and OF.

Kevin Sauer - batted 7/10, .700 and played OF. Many timely hits.

Jim Cooper - batted 6/10,. 600. OF, catch, 1st. Basically, wherever we needed him.

Jim Fink was also on the team, but screwed up his back on Friday, so couldn't play.

Dennis Dulle has been on the DL for the last 2 years, but came along and became our scorekeeper, and had to tell the official scorekeeper what the score was!!! Really..

Larry Biko came along for moral support, and ending up as the base ump for the 3rd game.

     So, as you can see, the sticks were working. It was a beautiful., fairly calm day, and our guys came to play. Trent did a helluva job on the mound, pitching all 3 games. His arm must be sore! Our up the middle defence was excellent, at 2nd, SS, LC and RC. That save us many times. Randy Biko hit the only out of the park HR, and made an outstanding DP on 1st, using his size 14's to his advantage. It was a thing of beauty.

All-in-all, everyone contributed lots, and that made it a great day. The Lethbridge guys are a really good group of guys, so we have lots of fun with them.
