This Privacy Policy explains how FloatDot ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the FloatDot Android application (com.floatdot.app). We are committed to transparency and compliance with Google Play policies and applicable privacy laws. Market, crypto, and health-related features display information for personal reference only — not financial, investment, or medical advice. By using the App, you agree to this Policy. If you disagree, please do not use the App.
1. Scope and controller
- 1.1 Who we are: FloatDot is a personal productivity and information utility app operated by the FloatDot development team. For privacy inquiries, contact phamngocnamservice@gmail.com or the support email listed on our Google Play store page.
- 1.2 What this Policy covers: This Policy applies to the FloatDot mobile app and in-app features. It does not cover third-party websites, APIs, or services that you access through links or data feeds displayed in the App.
- 1.3 Children: FloatDot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
2. Information we collect
- 2.1 Data stored on your device: Most data stays on your device, including: notes and reminders; floating notepad groups and pages (text you enter, auto-saved locally); vocabulary progress; watchlists and price alerts; currency and world-clock preferences; sports team favorites; weather/AQI/pollen/gas location preferences; package tracking numbers; countdowns; medication schedules (name, dosage text, times, notes); hydration profile (height, weight, age you enter); horoscope preferences; subscription renewal entries; dot appearance settings; floating overlay window preferences (calculator, stopwatch, notepad, Float Browser — size, position, and related UI settings); stopwatch lap records and alert presets while you use the stopwatch; feature toggles; install-trial start timestamp (for the seven-day full-access trial on first install); and onboarding completion flags. Calculator expressions are processed on-device and are not sent to our servers. This data is stored in local databases and preferences (Room, DataStore). To prevent trial reset after app-data clear or reinstall, a one-way hash of your device identifier and the trial start time may be synced to our server (see section 2.4).
- 2.2 Permissions and system data: With your permission, the App may access: overlay/display-over-apps (to draw the floating dot and optional floating windows such as Float Browser, notepad, calculator, and stopwatch); notifications (to show reminders, stopwatch alerts, and foreground service status); internet (to fetch market, weather, sports, news, and tracking data, and for websites you open in Float Browser); exact alarms (for note and medication reminders); boot completed (to reschedule after restart); and battery optimization status. We do not read or record the content of other apps' screens. We only process text and URLs you enter into FloatDot or load in Float Browser at your direction.
- 2.3 Location and regional data: If you enable weather, air quality, pollen, or gas price features, you may provide a city name, postal/ZIP code, or approximate location. Location is used to retrieve relevant forecasts and indices from third-party APIs. We do not sell your location.
- 2.4 Network requests and our servers: When features need live data, the App sends requests from your device to public or licensed APIs (e.g., market data, sports scores, weather services, RSS feeds, carrier tracking endpoints). These requests may include symbols, team IDs, tracking numbers, or location coordinates you configured. Third parties may log IP addresses and request metadata under their own policies. For the seven-day install trial, the App may contact our server (appbaochuyentien.com) to store and retrieve a one-way hash of your device identifier and the trial start timestamp so the trial cannot be reset by clearing app data or reinstalling. We do not store your raw Android ID on our servers.
- 2.5 Screen time feature: If you enable screen-time break reminders, the App monitors screen on/off events locally to estimate continuous usage time. This data is processed on-device to trigger reminders and is not uploaded to our servers.
- 2.6 Diagnostics and crash reports: In release builds, FloatDot uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to report app crashes and serious errors. Reports may include device model, operating system version, app version, and technical stack traces. We do not intentionally include your notes, notepad pages, reminders, medication details, or other private content you enter in the App. If a crash occurs while Float Browser is open, a page URL or title might appear incidentally in a stack trace. Crash collection is turned off in debug builds. Google Play may also collect crash data according to your device and Play Store settings.
- 2.7 Health-related information: If you use medication reminders, the App stores medication names, dosage text, schedule times, and optional notes locally on your device. If you use hydration reminders, the App may store height, weight, and age you provide to estimate daily water intake. This health-related information is processed on-device only, is not transmitted to our servers, and is not used for advertising. You can delete this data by removing entries in the App or uninstalling FloatDot.
- 2.8 Float Browser and third-party websites: Float Browser lets you enter URLs or search and load web pages in an in-app WebView overlay. Connections go directly from your device to the sites you choose. We do not operate those websites and do not upload your browsing history to FloatDot servers. WebView may store cookies, cache, and local storage on your device; third-party sites may set cookies (including third-party cookies where enabled) and collect data under their own privacy policies. When supported by your device, Google Safe Browsing may be used to help warn about known harmful URLs; Google may process related metadata under Google's policies. You can clear app data or uninstall FloatDot to remove locally stored browser data.
3. How we use information
- 3.1 Provide the Service: We use information to display your floating dot, deliver scheduled reminders, fetch and show third-party data you requested, and persist your settings.
- 3.2 Improve and secure the App: We may use aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to improve reliability and UX. We do not use your private notes or reminders for advertising profiling.
- 3.3 Legal compliance: We may process or retain information if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the Service.
4. Sharing and disclosure
- 4.1 No sale of personal data: We do not sell your personal information.
- 4.2 Third-party processors: Data you request (e.g., stock symbol lookups) is transmitted to third-party API providers solely to fulfill your request. Google Play, Google AdMob (if enabled), Google Play Billing (if you purchase), and Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics in release builds) may process data under their respective policies. When you purchase or restore Premium, Google Play validates the transaction and provides purchase or subscription status to the App on your device so we can unlock features; we do not receive your payment card number. See Google's Firebase Privacy and Security information at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
- 4.3 Legal requirements: We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law or protect against fraud or harm.
5. Data retention and deletion
- 5.1 On-device retention: Local data remains on your device until you delete it in the App, clear app storage, or uninstall FloatDot. Install-trial registration on our server (hashed device key and start time) is retained to enforce the one-time trial per device until you contact us to request deletion.
- 5.2 Your choices: You can delete notes, alerts, and other entries within the App. Uninstalling removes locally stored app data from your device.
- 5.3 Account deletion: FloatDot does not require a user account. If future versions add cloud sync or accounts, we will provide a clear deletion mechanism as required by Google Play.
6. Security
- 6.1 Safeguards: We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate for a local-first mobile app. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
- 6.2 Your responsibility: Protect your device with a screen lock, keep your OS updated, and review permissions granted to FloatDot in Android Settings.
7. International users
- 7.1 Cross-border transfers: Third-party APIs you use may process data in countries other than yours. By using those features, you understand such transfers may occur.
- 7.2 Regional rights: Depending on your jurisdiction (EU/EEA, UK, California, Vietnam, etc.), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Contact us to exercise applicable rights.
8. Advertising and analytics
- 8.1 Ads: If advertising is shown, ad networks may use advertising IDs subject to your device settings and consent flows required by Google. You can reset or limit ad personalization in Android Settings → Google → Ads.
- 8.2 Analytics: In release builds, we use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate (for example: screens viewed, onboarding completion, which utility types are enabled). Events use generic identifiers (such as feature_id) and do not include the text of your notes, reminders, or health entries. Analytics collection is disabled in debug builds. You can limit ad-related identifiers in Android Settings → Google → Ads; Firebase Analytics is separate from ads but may receive an app instance identifier as described in Google's documentation.
- 8.3 Opt-out and controls: We do not offer a separate in-app toggle for Firebase today; crash and analytics run only in release builds to improve stability. If you uninstall the App, no further Firebase data is sent from your device. Contact us if you have questions about data processed by Google on our behalf.
9. Disclaimers
- 9.1 Not professional advice: Information shown in FloatDot — including market prices, crypto quotes, sports scores, weather, air quality, pollen levels, and health-related reminders — is provided for general informational and personal productivity purposes only. FloatDot does not provide financial, investment, trading, medical, legal, or other professional advice.
- 9.2 Financial and market data: Watchlists, price alerts, and displayed quotes are configured by you and stored locally on your device. FloatDot is not a broker, exchange, wallet, bank, or investment advisor and does not execute trades or hold funds. Public prices may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. You are solely responsible for financial decisions.
- 9.3 Health-related data: Medication schedules, hydration estimates, and wellness reminders are personal tools you control. FloatDot is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Health-related information you enter stays on your device unless you choose to share it outside the App. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice.
- 9.4 Third-party sources and accuracy: Live data is retrieved from third-party APIs at your request. We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or availability. Third-party providers may log technical metadata (such as IP addresses) under their own privacy policies.
- 9.5 Websites you open in Float Browser: Content, products, and services on websites you visit through Float Browser are provided by those sites' operators, not by FloatDot. We are not responsible for third-party site content, security of logins or payments you perform on external sites, or how those sites handle your data. Use caution when entering passwords or personal information in a floating window.
10. Changes and contact
- 10.1 Policy updates: We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date will change, and material updates may be communicated in the App. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Policy.
- 10.2 Contact us: Questions or requests regarding privacy: contact phamngocnamservice@gmail.com or the contact method on our Google Play listing. We aim to respond within 30 days.
